امریکہ کی کمیشن رپورٹ پر بھارت کا سخت ردعمل

امریکہ کی یو ایس کمیشن برائے بین الاقوامی مذہبی آزادی (USCIRF) کی تازہ رپورٹ نے بھارت اور امریکہ کے سفارتی حلقوں میں ایک نئی بحث چھیڑ دی ہے۔ کمیشن نے اپنی سالانہ رپورٹ 2026 میں سفارش کی ہے کہ بھارت کو مذہبی آزادی کی خلاف ورزیوں کے حوالے سے “Country of Particular Concern” یعنی خاص تشویش کا حامل ملک قرار دیا جائے۔
رپورٹ میں یہ بھی کہا گیا ہے کہ بھارتی خفیہ ایجنسی Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW) اور ہندو قوم پرست تنظیم Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) کے بعض عناصر پر پابندیاں عائد کی جائیں، جن میں امریکہ میں داخلے پر پابندی اور ممکنہ اثاثوں کو منجمد کرنا شامل ہو سکتا ہے۔
بھارتی حکومت نے اس رپورٹ کو فوری طور پر متعصبانہ اور گمراہ کن قرار دیتے ہوئے مسترد کر دیا۔ وزارت خارجہ کے ترجمان Randhir Jaiswal نے کہا کہ یہ رپورٹ کئی برسوں سے بھارت کے بارے میں “منتخب اور مسخ شدہ تصویر” پیش کر رہی ہے۔
ان کا کہنا تھا کہ کمیشن کو بھارت پر تنقید کے بجائے امریکہ میں ہندو مندروں پر حملوں اور بھارتی نژاد افراد کے خلاف بڑھتی ہوئی نفرت انگیزی جیسے مسائل پر بھی توجہ دینی چاہیے۔
USCIRF کی رپورٹ میں یہ دعویٰ کیا گیا ہے کہ 2025 کے دوران بھارت میں مذہبی آزادی کی صورتحال مزید خراب ہوئی، اور بعض ریاستوں میں مذہب تبدیل کرنے کے خلاف سخت قوانین متعارف کرائے گئے یا مزید سخت کیے گئے۔
یہ رپورٹ یہ بھی تجویز کرتی ہے کہ امریکہ مستقبل میں بھارت کے ساتھ سکیورٹی تعاون اور تجارتی پالیسیوں کو مذہبی آزادی کی صورتحال سے جوڑ کر دیکھے۔
India Rejects U.S. Commission’s Recommendation For Sanctions
New Delhi:
A fresh report by the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) has sparked diplomatic debate between India and the United States. In its 2026 Annual Report, the commission recommended that India be designated a “Country of Particular Concern” (CPC) over alleged violations of religious freedom.
The report further suggested targeted sanctions against individuals and institutions, including India’s external intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW) and the Hindu nationalist organization Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Proposed measures include freezing assets and restricting entry into the United States.
The Government of India strongly rejected the recommendations, describing the report as biased and politically motivated.
Responding to the report, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that the commission has repeatedly presented a “distorted and selective narrative” about India, relying on questionable sources and ideological viewpoints rather than objective facts.
He added that instead of selectively criticising India, the commission should also address issues such as attacks on Hindu temples in the United States and growing intolerance faced by members of the Indian diaspora.
According to the USCIRF report, conditions for religious freedom in India allegedly deteriorated in 2025, with several states introducing or strengthening anti-conversion laws that impose harsher penalties.
The commission also proposed linking future U.S. security cooperation and trade engagement with India to measurable improvements in religious freedom.
