DMK Begins Seat-Sharing Talks; Congress & IUML Stake Claims

تمل ناڈو اسمبلی انتخابات کے پیش نظر Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (ڈی ایم کے) نے اپنے اتحادیوں کے ساتھ نشستوں کی تقسیم (Seat-Sharing) کے لیے باضابطہ مذاکرات کا آغاز کر دیا ہے۔

ڈی ایم کے کی نشستوں کی تقسیم کمیٹی نے 22 فروری کو چنئی میں واقع پارٹی ہیڈکوارٹر انا اریوالایم میں Indian Union Muslim League (آئی یو ایم ایل) کے رہنماؤں سے گفتگو کی۔

اسی روز کانگریس نے بھی اپنی توقعات واضح کرنے میں تاخیر نہ کی۔ K.C. Venugopal، جو Indian National Congress کے جنرل سکریٹری (تنظیم) ہیں، نے اتوار کی شب M.K. Stalin سے ان کی الوارپیٹ رہائش گاہ پر ملاقات کی۔ بتایا جاتا ہے کہ وہ پارٹی قیادت کا ایک مہر بند خط بھی ساتھ لائے تھے۔

کانگریس کو 2021 کے اسمبلی انتخابات میں 25 نشستیں دی گئی تھیں، تاہم اس بار پارٹی زیادہ نشستوں کی خواہش رکھتی ہے۔ ڈی ایم کے نے کانگریس کی نشستوں کی تقسیم کمیٹی کو 26 یا 27 فروری کو باضابطہ مذاکرات کے لیے مدعو کیا ہے۔

مسلم لیگ کا مطالبہ

آئی یو ایم ایل، جسے 2021 میں تین نشستیں ملی تھیں، اس بار پانچ نشستوں کا مطالبہ کر رہی ہے۔ پارٹی رہنما K.M. Kader Mohideen نے کہا کہ ماضی میں سابق وزیر اعلیٰ M. Karunanidhi کے دور میں مسلم جماعتوں کو 16 حلقے دیے گئے تھے۔

انہوں نے امید ظاہر کی کہ کم از کم چار نشستیں مل جائیں گی۔ تاہم ڈی ایم کے کی جانب سے اتحادی جماعتوں کو اپنے مطالبات کم کرنے کا مشورہ دیا گیا ہے۔

ڈی ایم کے کمیٹی کے سربراہ T.R. Baalu نے مبینہ طور پر یہ بھی نشاندہی کی کہ آئی یو ایم ایل 2021 میں دی گئی تین نشستوں میں کامیاب نہیں ہو سکی تھی۔

انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ نئی اتحادی جماعتوں جیسے Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (ڈی ایم ڈی کے) اور Makkal Needhi Maiam کو بھی نشستیں دی جانی ہیں، اس لیے سبھی اتحادیوں کو کچھ قربانی دینی ہوگی۔ ڈی ایم کے خود بھی چند نشستیں چھوڑنے کے لیے تیار ہے۔

With the Tamil Nadu Assembly election approaching, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has formally commenced seat-sharing negotiations with its alliance partners.

On February 22, the DMK’s seat-sharing committee held talks with leaders of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) at Anna Arivalayam, the party headquarters in Chennai.

Meanwhile, the Indian National Congress swiftly conveyed its expectations. Congress general secretary (organisation) K.C. Venugopal met DMK president and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin at his Alwarpet residence on Sunday night. Sources indicate that Mr. Venugopal handed over a sealed envelope from the party leadership.

The Congress, which was allotted 25 seats in the 2021 Assembly election, is reportedly seeking a larger share this time. The DMK has invited the Congress seat-sharing committee for formal talks on February 26 or 27.

🟢 IUML Seeks Five Seats

The IUML, which contested three seats in 2021, has now demanded five constituencies. IUML leader K.M. Kader Mohideen recalled that during the tenure of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, Muslim political parties were allotted up to 16 constituencies.

However, DMK committee chief T.R. Baalu reportedly pointed out that the IUML failed to win any of the three seats allotted in 2021.

Mr. Baalu also emphasised the need to accommodate new entrants such as the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) and Makkal Needhi Maiam. He urged alliance partners to make sacrifices, adding that the DMK itself is prepared to concede a few seats to maintain coalition balance.
