اطلاعات کے مطابق، ضلع تروپتّور کے جولارپیٹ اسمبلی حلقے سے All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam کے امیدوار اور سابق وزیر K. C. Veeramani کے خلاف چار افراد ایک باضابطہ شکایت درج کرانے جا رہے تھے۔ ان افراد کا الزام تھا کہ مذکورہ رہنما کے پاس غیر معمولی حد تک اثاثے موجود ہیں، اور انہوں نے انتخابی کمیشن کو اپنی جائیداد کی غلط تفصیلات فراہم کی ہیں۔
یہ چار افراد—جے پرکاش (51)، جگن (36)، دنیش (34) اور تھنیکائی ویل (52)—مبینہ طور پر ان دستاویزات کے ساتھ ناترام پلی تحصیلدار کے دفتر پہنچ رہے تھے، جن میں غیر ظاہر شدہ اثاثوں کی تفصیلات شامل تھیں۔
تاہم، الزام ہے کہ اسی دوران سابق وزیر اور ان کے حامیوں نے ان چاروں کو روک کر تشدد کا نشانہ بنایا۔ ذرائع کے مطابق، تھنیکائی ویل کو زبردستی اپنے ساتھ لے جایا گیا، جبکہ باقی تین افراد نے تحصیلدار دفتر پہنچ کر انتخابی افسر سے شکایت درج کرائی۔
مزید برآں، متاثرین نے دعویٰ کیا کہ 2021 کے اسمبلی انتخابات میں بھی اسی طرح اثاثوں کی غلط تفصیلات پیش کی گئی تھیں، جس کے خلاف ایک مقدمہ تاحال عدالت میں زیرِ سماعت ہے۔ ان کا کہنا تھا کہ اس بار بھی وہی طرزِ عمل دہرایا گیا ہے، لہٰذا ذمہ داران کے خلاف قانونی کارروائی کی جائے۔
انتخابی حکام نے شکایت کنندگان کو پولیس میں رپورٹ درج کرانے کی ہدایت دی، جس کے بعد انہیں پولیس کی حفاظت میں ناترام پلی تھانے لے جایا گیا۔ زخمی افراد کو علاج کے لیے آمبور سرکاری اسپتال منتقل کیا گیا ہے۔
یہ واقعہ نہ صرف مقامی سطح پر سنسنی کا باعث بنا ہے بلکہ اس نے ایک بار پھر یہ سوال اٹھا دیا ہے کہ کیا جمہوریت میں شکایت کی آواز کو بھی تحفظ حاصل ہے یا نہیں۔

A Cry for Accountability or a Shadow of Power? — Assault on Complainants Raises Questions
Vaniyambadi, April 7 — As Tamil Nadu prepares for its 2026 Assembly elections scheduled on April 23, political activity is intensifying. However, a disturbing incident has emerged, casting a shadow over democratic values.
According to reports, four individuals were on their way to submit a formal complaint against K. C. Veeramani, a former minister and candidate of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam from the Jolarpet constituency in Tirupattur district. They alleged that the leader possessed disproportionate assets and had submitted false declarations to the Election Commission.
The individuals—Jayaprakash (51), Jagan (36), Dinesh (34), and Thanigaivel (52)—were reportedly carrying documents detailing undisclosed properties when they approached the Natrampalli Taluk Office.
It is alleged that at this point, the former minister along with his supporters intercepted and assaulted them. Sources claim that Thanigaivel was forcibly taken away, while the remaining three managed to reach the office and lodge a complaint with the election authorities.
The complainants further stated that similar discrepancies in asset declarations were reported during the 2021 Assembly elections, for which a case is still pending in court. They alleged that the same pattern has been repeated and demanded strict legal action.
Election officials advised them to file a police complaint, following which they were escorted to the Natrampalli Police Station under protection. The injured were admitted to the Ambur Government Hospital for treatment.
This incident has sparked widespread concern, raising a fundamental question: in a democracy, is the voice of complaint protected—or suppressed under the weight of power?
