کولکاتا میں اقتدار اور احتساب آمنے سامنے

آئی-پیک چھاپوں کے خلاف ممتا بنرجی سڑکوں پر، عدالت میں سماعت تعطل کا شکار

مغربی بنگال میں مرکز اور ریاستی حکومت کے درمیان تناؤ ایک نئے مرحلے میں داخل ہو گیا ہے، جہاں ممتا بنرجی نے انفورسمنٹ ڈائریکٹوریٹ (ای ڈی) کی جانب سے سیاسی مشاورتی ادارے I-PAC پر چھاپوں کے خلاف کولکاتا کی سڑکوں پر احتجاجی مارچ کی قیادت کی، جبکہ اسی دوران کلکتہ ہائی کورٹ میں جاری سماعت غیر معمولی حالات کے باعث مؤخر ہو گئی۔

عدالت میں اس معاملے کی سماعت کر رہے جسٹس سُورا گھوش نے کمرۂ عدالت میں غیر معمولی ہجوم کا حوالہ دیتے ہوئے کارروائی ترک کر دی۔ چونکہ عدالت ہفتہ وار تعطیل کے باعث بند رہے گی، اس لیے اب اس کیس کی اگلی سماعت بدھ کے روز متوقع ہے۔

ای ڈی نے اپنی عرضی میں الزام عائد کیا ہے کہ وزیر اعلیٰ ممتا بنرجی نے آئینی عہدے کا غلط استعمال کرتے ہوئے چھاپوں کے دوران تفتیشی عمل میں رکاوٹ ڈالی۔ ایجنسی کے مطابق، یہ چھاپے کوئلہ اسمگلنگ کیس کے سلسلے میں آئی-پیک کے شریک بانی پراتک جین کے گھر اور دفتر پر ڈالے گئے تھے، جہاں سے مبینہ طور پر اہم دستاویزات، ایک لیپ ٹاپ اور موبائل فون لے جائے گئے۔

ای ڈی نے اس معاملے میں سی بی آئی جانچ کا بھی مطالبہ کیا ہے، جس میں وزیر اعلیٰ کے کردار کی چھان بین شامل ہو۔

ترنمول کانگریس کا مؤقف

اس کے برعکس، ترنمول کانگریس اور پراتک جین کی جانب سے دائر جوابی عرضیوں میں کہا گیا ہے کہ یہ چھاپے آئندہ اسمبلی انتخابات سے قبل پارٹی کی انتخابی حکمتِ عملی سے متعلق دستاویزات حاصل کرنے کی کوشش تھے، تاکہ انہیں بی جے پی کے فائدے کے لیے استعمال کیا جا سکے۔

سڑکوں پر احتجاج، نعروں میں سیاست

عدالتی کارروائی کے ساتھ ساتھ وزیر اعلیٰ ممتا بنرجی نے کولکاتا کے جاودپور سے حضرہ چوک تک تقریباً چھ کلومیٹر طویل پیدل مارچ کیا۔ پارٹی قائدین اور کارکنان کی بڑی تعداد ان کے ہمراہ تھی، جبکہ سڑکوں کے کنارے عوام کی خاصی تعداد نے اظہارِ حمایت کیا۔

ممتا بنرجی اور پارٹی قیادت نے الزام لگایا کہ بھارتیہ جنتا پارٹی بنگال اسمبلی انتخابات میں شکست کے خوف سے ریاستی اداروں کا استعمال کر رہی ہے۔

بی جے پی کی جانب سے جوابی وار کرتے ہوئے سینئر رہنما روی شنکر پرساد نے الزام لگایا کہ ممتا بنرجی بدعنوانی میں ’’گھٹنوں تک ڈوبی ہوئی‘‘ ہیں اور ای ڈی افسران کو دھمکانے کے الزام میں انہیں ملزم بنایا جانا چاہیے۔

Mamata Banerjee Leads Protest Against ED Raids as Court Hearing Disrupted

The political confrontation between the Centre and the West Bengal government escalated sharply on Friday as Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee led a massive protest march in Kolkata against the Enforcement Directorate’s raids on political consultancy firm I-PAC, even as legal proceedings on the issue were disrupted at the Calcutta High Court.

Justice Suvra Ghosh, who was hearing multiple petitions related to the raids, left the courtroom citing excessive crowding. With the court not functioning over the weekend, the matter will now be taken up on Wednesday.

The ED has alleged that Banerjee misused her constitutional position by interfering with officials during the raids at the I-PAC office and the residence of its co-founder Pratik Jain. The raids were conducted in connection with a coal smuggling case. The agency has sought a CBI probe, including an examination of the chief minister’s role.

Competing Narratives

The Trinamool Congress and Jain have filed counter-petitions, alleging that the ED action was aimed at seizing sensitive documents related to the party’s election strategy ahead of the upcoming Bengal Assembly elections, allegedly to benefit the BJP.

Protest on the Streets

As court proceedings unfolded, Banerjee led a six-kilometre foot march from Jadavpur to Hazra Crossing, flanked by senior party leaders and thousands of supporters. Addressing the crowd, Trinamool leaders accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of using central agencies out of desperation to win the state elections.

The BJP rejected the accusations, alleging deep-rooted corruption within the Trinamool leadership. Senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad claimed that Banerjee should be named as an accused for allegedly intimidating ED officials during the raids.
