Musk Questions Ambani’s Influence as Starlink’s India Launch Faces Delays

Elon Musk has intensified the debate over Starlink’s delayed commercial launch in India by questioning Mukesh Ambani’s influence, asking on X on October 8, 2026: “Is Ambani the real boss of India?”

Musk alleged that powerful business interests were obstructing foreign satellite internet services in India. The government rejected claims of monopolistic interference and discriminatory treatment, stating that Starlink, Reliance-backed JioSpaceFiber and Bharti Airtel’s OneWeb must all complete pending security clearances before spectrum allocation can proceed.

Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi also joined the exchange, telling Musk: “Welcome to India, Elon. Wait till you discover the other guy,” in an apparent reference to billionaire Gautam Adani. Musk responded that the situation was “indeed troubling.”
