Pawan Khera Targets Modi Over Screen-Time Advice, Accuses PM of Echoing Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Pawan Khera has sharply criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his recent remarks on excessive mobile-phone and screen usage among children, accusing him of repeating advice previously given by Rahul Gandhi.

During an interaction with the winners of the National Teachers’ Awards on September 5, Prime Minister Modi expressed concern over excessive screen time among children. He urged teachers and parents to encourage children to spend more time playing physical sports and participating in real-world activities, stressing the importance of protecting their childhood.

Reacting to the remarks, Khera shared a video on X comparing Modi’s latest comments with Rahul Gandhi’s earlier interactions in which the Congress leader had spoken about the dangers of social-media addiction and excessive screen use among young people.

Taking a jibe at the Prime Minister, Khera said, “Modi has to learn every good thing from Rahul ji.” He presented Modi’s remarks as an echo of Rahul Gandhi’s earlier message.

Khera also questioned the government’s broader record concerning the welfare and safety of children. Referring to alleged use of weapons, including AK-47s and pellet guns, against children in conflict-affected areas, he asked why the government could not explain such actions while simultaneously presenting itself as concerned about children’s well-being.

The exchange highlights the continuing political contest between the Congress and the government over issues concerning children, young people, social-media use and their future.
