کرناٹک کے دھارواڑ میں اتوار کو منعقدہ ’پرتیرو دھا‘ ریلی سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے کانگریس کے رہنما بی کے ہری پرساد نے آر ایس ایس کو ملک کے لیے ایک بڑا خطرہ قرار دیتے ہوئے کہا کہ اصل مسئلہ بی جے پی نہیں بلکہ وہ نظریاتی قوت ہے جو اس کے پیچھے کام کر رہی ہے۔

انہوں نے آر ایس ایس کو بی جے پی کا ’دماغ اور روح‘ قرار دیتے ہوئے الزام لگایا کہ اس کی سرگرمیاں جمہوریت اور ملک کے سماجی تانے بانے کے لیے نقصان دہ ہیں۔ ان کے مطابق، نظریاتی جدوجہد محض انتخابی سیاست تک محدود نہیں، بلکہ ثقافتی میدان میں بھی اس کا مقابلہ ضروری ہے۔

ہری پرساد نے کانگریس کارکنوں سے اپیل کی کہ وہ جماعتی حدود سے آگے بڑھ کر عوامی تحریکوں کا حصہ بنیں اور ان سرگرمیوں کے خلاف آواز بلند کریں جنہیں وہ سماج دشمن اور جمہوریت مخالف سمجھتے ہیں۔ انہوں نے کانگریس کو ملک کی واحد بڑی سیکولر جماعت قرار دیتے ہوئے دعویٰ کیا کہ اس میں مختلف طبقات، ذاتوں اور صنفی گروہوں کو نمائندگی حاصل ہے۔

انہوں نے آر ایس ایس پر آزادی کے بعد کئی دہائیوں تک اپنے دفتر پر ترنگا نہ لہرانے اور قومی ترانے کے احترام کے حوالے سے بھی سوالات اٹھائے۔ ان کا الزام تھا کہ تنظیم حب الوطنی کے نام پر فرقہ وارانہ نفرت کو فروغ دے کر سماج میں تقسیم پیدا کر رہی ہے۔

ہری پرساد کے خطاب نے ایک بار پھر ملک میں نظریاتی کشمکش، سیکولر اقدار اور قومی یکجہتی کے حوالے سے جاری سیاسی بحث کو نمایاں کیا ہے۔ جمہوریت کی اصل قوت اختلافِ رائے، سماجی ہم آہنگی اور آئینی اقدار کے احترام میں مضمر ہے۔

Hariprasad Targets RSS, Calls for Wider Mobilisation to Defend Democracy and Secular Values

Congress leader B.K. Hariprasad has launched a sharp attack on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), describing it as a greater threat to the country than the BJP. Addressing the Pratirodha rally against fascist forces in Dharwad on Sunday, he urged Congress workers to join broader people’s movements beyond electoral politics.

Describing the RSS as the “brain and soul” of the BJP, Hariprasad alleged that its ideology poses a serious challenge to democracy and the country’s social fabric. He stressed that the struggle against the Sangh Parivar must extend beyond elections to the cultural sphere, where competing ideologies shape society.

Calling upon Congress workers to rise above party boundaries, he appealed for collective participation in movements opposing what he termed the anti-democratic and anti-social activities of the RSS and the BJP. He also projected the Congress as a major secular platform representing diverse communities, castes, social classes and gender groups.

Hariprasad further accused the RSS of failing to hoist the national flag at its headquarters for decades after Independence and questioned its respect for the national anthem. He alleged that the organisation invokes patriotism while encouraging communal hatred and deepening social divisions.

His remarks have once again brought the ideological contest over secularism, nationalism and the character of Indian democracy into the political spotlight. The debate also raises a fundamental question about the nation’s future: can its democratic foundations remain strong without protecting pluralism, constitutional values and the spirit of social harmony?
