جمہوریت صرف انتخابات کا نام نہیں، بلکہ عوام کے اعتماد، نوجوانوں کی امیدوں اور انصاف پر یقین کا دوسرا نام بھی ہے۔ جب ملک کا نوجوان سڑکوں پر ہو، طالبات اپنے مستقبل کے لیے آواز بلند کر رہی ہوں، اور امتحانی نظام پر مسلسل سوالات اٹھ رہے ہوں، تو حکومت کی پہلی ذمہ داری یہ ہونی چاہیے کہ وہ ان کے زخموں پر مرہم رکھے، نہ کہ صرف سیاسی بیانیے سے حالات کو سنبھالنے کی کوشش کرے۔

پارلیمنٹ میں کانگریس کی رکنِ پارلیمان پریانکا گاندھی کا یہ جملہ کہ "اگر آپ جن زی کا بھروسہ واپس جیتنا چاہتے ہیں تو نئے نئے اینگل سے اپنے فون سے ویڈیو بنانے سے نہیں ہوگا، پردھان منتری جی کو کیمرے کا اینگل نہیں، دل کا اینگل بدلنا پڑے گا” محض ایک سیاسی نکتہ نہیں بلکہ موجودہ سیاسی ماحول پر ایک گہرا تبصرہ ہے۔ نوجوان نسل سوشل میڈیا کے مناظر سے زیادہ اپنے مستقبل کی سلامتی، روزگار کی امید اور شفاف امتحانی نظام کی متلاشی ہے۔

اسی تقریر میں پریانکا گاندھی نے یہ سوال بھی اٹھایا کہ سابق وزیرِ تعلیم دھرمیندر پردھان کے استعفے کے بعد وزارتِ تعلیم ایسے رہنما کے سپرد کیوں کی گئی جس نے ماضی میں بلقیس بانو کیس کے سزا یافتہ مجرموں کی قبل از وقت رہائی کی حمایت کی تھی۔ حکومت اس اعتراض سے اتفاق کرے یا اختلاف، لیکن یہ حقیقت اپنی جگہ موجود ہے کہ ایسے فیصلے عوامی سطح پر بحث، سوالات اور حساس ردِعمل کو جنم دیتے ہیں، خصوصاً خواتین اور نوجوانوں کے درمیان۔

آج ملک ایک ایسے موڑ پر کھڑا ہے جہاں صرف سیاسی اکثریت کافی نہیں۔ اعتماد، شفافیت اور اخلاقی قیادت بھی اتنی ہی ضروری ہیں۔ اگر نوجوانوں کو یہ محسوس ہونے لگے کہ ان کی آواز صرف احتجاج تک محدود ہے اور اقتدار کے ایوانوں میں ان کی تشویش کی حقیقی بازگشت موجود نہیں، تو یہ کسی بھی جمہوریت کے لیے تشویش کا باعث ہونا چاہیے۔

تعلیم کسی بھی قوم کے مستقبل کی بنیاد ہوتی ہے۔ وزارتِ تعلیم کا ہر فیصلہ صرف انتظامی نہیں بلکہ اخلاقی اور علامتی اہمیت بھی رکھتا ہے۔ اسی لیے حکومت پر یہ ذمہ داری عائد ہوتی ہے کہ وہ ایسے اقدامات کرے جو عوام، خصوصاً نوجوانوں اور خواتین، کے اعتماد کو مضبوط کریں۔

ملک کو اس وقت الزام و جواب کے نہ ختم ہونے والے سلسلے سے زیادہ اعتماد کی بحالی، انصاف کی بالادستی اور ایسے فیصلوں کی ضرورت ہے جو ہر شہری کو یہ یقین دلا سکیں کہ اس کی عزت، اس کے حقوق اور اس کے مستقبل کی حفاظت ریاست کی اولین ترجیح ہے۔ کیمرے کا زاویہ بدلنے سے تصویر شاید خوبصورت دکھائی دے، لیکن قوم کا دل صرف اس وقت جیتا جا سکتا ہے جب نیت، رویہ اور فیصلوں کا زاویہ بھی بدل جائے۔

Winning Hearts Requires More Than Changing the Camera Angle

A democracy is sustained not merely by elections but by public trust, faith in justice, and the confidence of its younger generation. At a time when students across the country are expressing anxiety over examination integrity and the future of education, governments are expected to respond with empathy, accountability, and meaningful action rather than relying solely on political messaging.

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi’s remark in Parliament—"If you want to win back the trust of Gen Z, you cannot do it by making videos from different camera angles on your phone. The Prime Minister does not need to change the camera angle; he needs to change the angle of his heart”—has become one of the most discussed political statements of the day. Beyond partisan politics, the comment reflects a wider public sentiment that many young Indians seek reassurance through policy, fairness, and responsiveness rather than symbolism alone.

Priyanka Gandhi also questioned the government’s decision to entrust the Education Ministry to Pralhad Joshi after the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan, recalling Joshi’s past defence of the premature release of convicts in the Bilkis Bano case. Whether one agrees with this criticism or not, such appointments inevitably invite public scrutiny, particularly on issues concerning justice, women’s safety, and the moral authority of public institutions.

India’s youth are asking fundamental questions about transparency, accountability, and equal opportunity. Rebuilding confidence requires more than speeches or carefully crafted public imagery. It demands credible reforms, open dialogue, and decisions that inspire trust across society.

The Education Ministry represents not only administrative responsibility but also the nation’s commitment to its future generations. Every decision associated with it carries symbolic and ethical significance. In periods of heightened public concern, governments must recognise that perception is shaped as much by moral leadership as by political strength.

The country today needs healing more than polarisation, confidence more than confrontation, and principled governance more than optics. Public trust cannot be restored by changing the angle of a camera. It can only be rebuilt by changing the direction of governance towards empathy, fairness, and justice.
