جنگ صرف عمارتیں نہیں گراتی، وہ انسانوں کے خواب، بچپن، ماؤں کی آغوش اور مستقبل کی روشن راہوں کو بھی اپنی لپیٹ میں لے لیتی ہے۔ مگر تاریخ کا ایک اٹل سبق یہ بھی ہے کہ جن قوموں کے ہاتھوں میں کتاب زندہ رہتی ہے، انہیں توپوں کی گھن گرج ہمیشہ کے لیے خاموش نہیں کر سکتی۔

غزہ کی اٹھارہ سالہ طالبہ دانا شبات کی کہانی اسی حقیقت کی زندہ تصویر ہے۔ وہ ایک ایسی بیٹی ہے جس کی ماں جنگ میں چھن گئی، جس کا گھر ملبے کا ڈھیر بن گیا، جس کی زندگی خیمے تک محدود ہو گئی، مگر اس کے خواب نہ ٹوٹے۔ وہ روزانہ ایک گھنٹے کا پیدل سفر کرتی ہے تاکہ انٹرنیٹ کی سہولت رکھنے والے ایک چھوٹے سے کیفے میں بیٹھ کر اپنے امتحانات دے سکے۔ یہ صرف ایک طالبہ کی جدوجہد نہیں، بلکہ پوری انسانیت کے ضمیر کے سامنے ایک سوال ہے۔

تعلیم صرف کتابوں کا نام نہیں، یہ امید کا دوسرا نام ہے۔ جب ایک نوجوان لڑکی تباہ حال خیمے میں ٹارچ کی مدھم روشنی میں مستقبل کے خواب لکھ رہی ہو تو دراصل وہ دنیا کو یہ پیغام دے رہی ہوتی ہے کہ علم کی روشنی بارود کے دھوئیں سے زیادہ طاقتور ہے۔

جنگ نے ہزاروں جانیں لے لیں، بے شمار ماؤں کی گودیں اجاڑ دیں، بستیاں ویران کر دیں، مگر وہ علم کی پیاس نہ بجھا سکی۔ یہی وہ جذبہ ہے جو زندہ قوموں کی پہچان بنتا ہے۔ زندہ قومیں صرف میدانِ جنگ میں نہیں جیتتیں، وہ امتحان گاہوں، کتابوں اور قلم کے ذریعے بھی اپنی بقا کی جنگ لڑتی ہیں۔

ملبے کے اوپر کھڑے ہو کر مستقبل کے خواب دیکھنا آسان نہیں ہوتا، مگر یہی خواب آنے والی نسلوں کی تعمیر کرتے ہیں۔ دانا اور اس جیسے ہزاروں طلبہ ہمیں یاد دلاتے ہیں کہ اگر حوصلہ زندہ ہو تو حالات انسان کو شکست نہیں دے سکتے۔

الف نیوز ان تمام بچوں، نوجوانوں اور اساتذہ کو سلام پیش کرتا ہے جو جنگ کے اندھیروں میں بھی علم کے چراغ روشن رکھے ہوئے ہیں۔ ہمیں یقین ہے کہ وہ دن ضرور آئے گا جب خیموں کی جگہ دوبارہ اسکول آباد ہوں گے، ملبے کی جگہ کتابوں کی خوشبو ہوگی، اور خوف کی جگہ امن کے گیت گونجیں گے۔

کیونکہ قومیں صرف زندہ رہنے سے نہیں، بلکہ علم کو زندہ رکھنے سے زندہ رہتی ہیں۔

Dreams Rising Above the Rubble

War does not merely destroy buildings. It shatters childhoods, steals mothers, silences classrooms, and attempts to bury the dreams of an entire generation beneath mountains of rubble. Yet history bears witness to one enduring truth: a nation that refuses to surrender its books can never truly be defeated.

The story of eighteen-year-old Dana Shabat from Gaza embodies that truth. She lost her mother to war, her home was reduced to ruins, and she now lives in a tent. Still, every morning she walks for an hour to reach a small café with internet access so she can sit for her high school examinations. Her journey is not merely a student’s struggle—it is a powerful testament to the resilience of the human spirit.

Education is far more than lessons and examinations. It is hope, dignity, and the promise of tomorrow. When a young woman studies beneath the dim light of a flashlight inside a tent, she reminds the world that the light of knowledge shines brighter than the flames of war.

Thousands have lost their lives. Families have been torn apart. Entire neighbourhoods have disappeared beneath the debris. Yet the desire to learn remains alive. That is the defining strength of living nations. They do not triumph only on battlefields; they endure through classrooms, books, and the unwavering courage to keep learning.

To dream while standing upon the ruins of one’s home requires extraordinary faith. Those dreams become the foundation upon which future generations rebuild their societies. Dana and thousands like her teach us that while war can destroy walls, it cannot extinguish determination.

We believe the day will come when tents will give way to schools once again, when the echoes of explosions will be replaced by the voices of children in classrooms, and when the fragrance of books will overcome the dust of destruction.

For nations do not survive merely by living—they survive by preserving the light of knowledge.
