چنئی: Udhayanidhi Stalin نے تمل ناڈو اسمبلی میں اپنے متنازع بیان پر وضاحت پیش کرتے ہوئے کہا ہے کہ ان کا مقصد کسی مذہب یا عقیدے کی توہین نہیں بلکہ اُس ذات پات کے نظام پر تنقید کرنا تھا جو انسانوں کے درمیان تفریق پیدا کرتا ہے۔

منگل کے روز اسمبلی میں قائدِ حزبِ اختلاف کی حیثیت سے اپنی پہلی تقریر کے دوران اُدھیانِدھی نے ’’سناتن دھرم کے خاتمے‘‘ کی بات کی تھی، جس پر سیاسی حلقوں اور مذہبی تنظیموں کی جانب سے شدید ردِعمل سامنے آیا۔ بعد ازاں میڈیا سے گفتگو کرتے ہوئے انہوں نے کہا کہ ان کے الفاظ کا غلط مطلب نکالا گیا۔

اُن کے مطابق، “میری جدوجہد انسانوں کے درمیان برابری، سماجی انصاف اور ذات پات کی بنیاد پر ہونے والی ناانصافیوں کے خلاف ہے۔ اگر کوئی نظام انسان کو انسان سے کمتر بناتا ہے تو اس پر سوال اٹھانا ضروری ہے۔”

Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam کے رہنما نے کہا کہ سماجی اصلاحات کی تحریکیں ہمیشہ مساوات، وقارِ انسانی اور بھائی چارے کے لیے آواز بلند کرتی رہی ہیں۔ ان کا کہنا تھا کہ ان کے بیان کو مذہبی منافرت کے زاویے سے دیکھنا مناسب نہیں۔

سیاسی مبصرین کے مطابق یہ تنازع ایک بار پھر بھارت میں مذہب، روایت اور سماجی انصاف کے درمیان جاری فکری کشمکش کو نمایاں کرتا ہے، جہاں زبان کے ایک جملے سے قومی سطح پر بحث جنم لے لیتی ہے۔

Udhayanidhi Stalin Clarifies Sanatana Dharma Remark, Says He Opposed Caste Discrimination

CHENNAI: Udhayanidhi Stalin has clarified his controversial remarks made in the Tamil Nadu Assembly regarding “abolishing Sanatana Dharma,” saying that his intention was not to target any religion but to oppose the caste system that divides society.

During his maiden speech as Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly on Tuesday, Udhayanidhi spoke about the “eradication” of Sanatana Dharma, triggering strong reactions from political parties and religious groups. Responding to the criticism later, he stated that his remarks had been misunderstood and taken out of context.

According to him, his fight is against social discrimination and inequality rooted in caste divisions. “If any system creates inequality among human beings, it must be questioned,” he said, emphasizing the ideals of social justice and human dignity.

The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leader maintained that social reform movements have historically challenged structures that perpetuate discrimination and exclusion. He argued that his statement should not be interpreted as an attack on faith or spirituality.

Political observers believe the controversy has once again highlighted the continuing ideological debate in India surrounding religion, tradition, caste, and social justice — a debate where a single political remark can ignite nationwide discussion.
