بھوپال میں تشدد، احتجاج اور بڑھتی ہوئی بے چینی

The Hindu کے مطابق Bhopal میں ایک مسلم نوجوان پر مبینہ “لو جہاد” کے الزام میں حملے کے بعد شہر میں کشیدگی پھیل گئی، جس کے بعد پولیس نے تین افراد کو گرفتار کرلیا اور حساس علاقوں میں سکیورٹی سخت کردی گئی۔

رپورٹ کے مطابق دائیں بازو سے وابستہ بعض کارکنوں نے 10 مئی کو ایک نجی ہوٹل کے کمرے میں گھس کر 27 سالہ Arif Khan کو ایک ہندو خاتون کے ساتھ پایا، جس کے بعد اُسے ہوٹل سے گھسیٹ کر تشدد کا نشانہ بنایا گیا۔ سوشل میڈیا پر وائرل ہونے والی ویڈیوز میں مبینہ طور پر اُس پر گائے کا گوبر پھینکتے اور پولیس کی موجودگی میں بھی مارپیٹ جاری رکھتے دیکھا گیا۔

اس واقعے کے خلاف مسلم برادری کے سینکڑوں افراد، شہر کے قاضی Sayed Mushtaq Ali Nadwi کی قیادت میں، حمیدیہ اسپتال کے قریب جمع ہوئے اور بعد ازاں پولیس کمشنر کے دفتر تک احتجاجی مارچ کیا۔ مظاہرین کا الزام تھا کہ حملہ آوروں کے خلاف درج ایف آئی آر کمزور دفعات کے تحت درج کی گئی اور دستیاب ویڈیوز کے باوجود کئی ملزمان کی فوری گرفتاری عمل میں نہیں لائی گئی۔

پولیس کے مطابق پتھراؤ کے ایک واقعے کے بعد تین افراد کو گرفتار کیا گیا ہے جبکہ مزید مشتبہ افراد کی شناخت کے لئے ویڈیو فوٹیج کا جائزہ لیا جارہا ہے۔ Ayush Gupta نے بتایا کہ شہر کے حساس علاقوں میں اضافی نفری تعینات کردی گئی ہے اور حالات اس وقت قابو میں ہیں۔

رپورٹ میں یہ بھی کہا گیا کہ مذکورہ خاتون نے پولیس کو بتایا کہ وہ کئی برسوں سے عارف خان کے ساتھ رضامندانہ تعلق میں تھیں۔
واضح رہے کہ “لو جہاد” ایک متنازع اصطلاح ہے جسے بعض ہندو تنظیمیں مسلم نوجوانوں اور ہندو خواتین کے تعلقات کے تناظر میں استعمال کرتی ہیں۔

Hatred in the Name of Love? Violence, Protest and Rising Anxiety in Bhopal

According to The Hindu, tensions escalated in Bhopal after a Muslim man was allegedly assaulted by right-wing activists over accusations of “love jihad,” prompting protests by members of the Muslim community and heightened security deployment across sensitive parts of the city.

The report states that on May 10, a group of activists allegedly barged into a private hotel room and found 27-year-old Arif Khan with a Hindu woman friend. He was reportedly dragged out of the hotel and physically assaulted. Viral videos circulating online allegedly showed attackers smearing cow dung on him and continuing the assault even in the presence of police personnel.

Hundreds of Muslim community members later gathered near Hamidia Hospital under the leadership of city Qazi Sayed Mushtaq Ali Nadwi before marching toward the Police Commissioner’s office in protest. Demonstrators alleged that the FIR filed against the accused invoked weak legal provisions despite video evidence of the attack and demanded immediate arrests.

Police officials confirmed that three individuals had been arrested following reports of stone-pelting during protests, while authorities continue to analyse video footage to identify additional suspects. Ayush Gupta stated that additional police deployment had been made in sensitive localities and that the situation was presently under control.

The report further noted that the woman involved reportedly informed police that she had been in a consensual relationship with Arif Khan for several years.

The term “love jihad” remains highly controversial and is used by certain Hindu groups to allege organised attempts by Muslim men to lure Hindu women into relationships or marriage.
