قربانی کا درس یا حکمرانی کی ناکامی؟
نئی دہلی: کانگریس رہنما اور قائدِ حزبِ اختلاف Rahul Gandhi نے وزیرِ اعظم Narendra Modi کی حالیہ معاشی اپیل کو “ناکامی کا ثبوت” قرار دیتے ہوئے حکومت پر شدید تنقید کی ہے۔
راہل گاندھی نے سوشل میڈیا پلیٹ فارم X پر جاری اپنے بیان میں کہا کہ عوام سے یہ کہنا کہ سونا نہ خریدیں، بیرونِ ملک سفر نہ کریں، پٹرول کم استعمال کریں، میٹرو اختیار کریں، ورک فرام ہوم اپنائیں اور کھپت محدود کریں — یہ محض نصیحتیں نہیں بلکہ حکومتی ناکامیوں کا اعتراف ہے۔
انہوں نے کہا کہ بارہ برس کی حکمرانی کے بعد اگر حکومت عوام کو یہ بتانے پر مجبور ہو کہ کیا خریدنا ہے اور کہاں جانا ہے، تو یہ اس بات کا اشارہ ہے کہ معاشی بحران اپنی شدت اختیار کر چکا ہے۔
راہل گاندھی کے مطابق ہر مشکل گھڑی میں ذمہ داری عوام کے کندھوں پر ڈال دی جاتی ہے، جبکہ اقتدار میں بیٹھے لوگ خود احتسابی سے گریز کرتے ہیں۔ انہوں نے وزیرِ اعظم کو “Compromised PM” قرار دیتے ہوئے کہا کہ حکومت عوامی مسائل کے حل کے بجائے قربانیوں کا بیانیہ پیش کر رہی ہے۔
یہ بیان ایسے وقت سامنے آیا ہے جب وزیرِ اعظم مودی نے حیدرآباد میں ایک جلسے سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے مغربی ایشیا کی جنگی صورتحال کے باعث پیدا ہونے والے عالمی معاشی دباؤ کا حوالہ دیا تھا۔ انہوں نے عوام سے اپیل کی تھی کہ وہ ایندھن کے استعمال میں احتیاط برتیں، غیر ضروری بیرونی سفر اور سونے کی خریداری مؤخر کریں، اور کووِڈ دور کی طرح “ورک فرام ہوم” کلچر دوبارہ اپنائیں تاکہ ملک کے زرِ مبادلہ کے ذخائر کو محفوظ رکھا جا سکے۔
سیاسی تجزیہ نگاروں کے مطابق یہ معاملہ صرف معیشت تک محدود نہیں بلکہ اب ایک بڑی سیاسی بحث کی شکل اختیار کرتا جا رہا ہے، جہاں “قومی ذمہ داری” اور “حکومتی جوابدہی” کے درمیان نئی کشمکش جنم لے رہی ہے۔

New Delhi: Congress leader and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the latter urged citizens to reduce fuel consumption, postpone gold purchases, avoid foreign travel, and revive work-from-home practices amid the ongoing global economic crisis.
In a statement posted on X, Rahul Gandhi said the Prime Minister’s appeal was not a message of discipline or patriotism, but “proof of failure.” He argued that asking citizens to limit consumption and alter their lifestyles reflected the government’s inability to manage the economy effectively after more than a decade in power.
According to Gandhi, governments repeatedly shift the burden of crises onto ordinary people while avoiding accountability themselves. He criticised the administration for promoting sacrifice instead of presenting concrete economic solutions.
The remarks came a day after PM Modi, addressing a rally in Hyderabad, warned that the prolonged conflict in West Asia had severely affected global supply chains, increased fuel prices, and placed pressure on India’s foreign exchange reserves. The Prime Minister urged citizens to adopt austerity measures similar to those seen during the Covid-19 pandemic, including remote work, virtual meetings, and restrained consumption.
Political observers believe the debate is rapidly evolving into a broader ideological contest between the language of “national duty” and the demand for “government accountability.”
