جوزف وجئے کے ساتھ نو وزراء نے بھی حلف اٹھایا

C. Joseph Vijay نے آج چنئی کے تاریخی نہرو اِنڈور اسٹیڈیم میں تمل ناڈو کے وزیرِ اعلیٰ کے طور پر حلف اٹھا کر ریاست کی سیاست میں ایک نئے عہد کا آغاز کردیا۔ فلمی دنیا کے مقبول ستارے سے عوامی سیاست کے مرکز تک پہنچنے والا یہ سفر اب اقتدار کی دہلیز پر مکمل ہوا، جہاں نعروں، جذبات، امیدوں اور سیاسی امکانات نے ایک ساتھ جنم لیا۔

تقریبِ حلف برداری میں عوام کا جوش دیدنی تھا۔ اسٹیڈیم نعروں، ترانوں اور روشنیوں سے گونج اٹھا، گویا سیاست اور سینما ایک ہی منظرنامے میں ضم ہوگئے ہوں۔ گورنر Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar نے انہیں عہدے اور رازداری کا حلف دلایا، جبکہ کانگریس رہنما Rahul Gandhi سمیت مختلف اتحادی جماعتوں کے قائدین بھی اس تاریخی لمحے کے گواہ بنے۔

یہ صرف حکومت سازی نہیں بلکہ تمل ناڈو کی سیاسی تاریخ میں ایک بڑی تبدیلی کی علامت ہے۔ تقریباً ساٹھ برس تک ریاست میں باری باری حکومت کرنے والی دو بڑی ڈراوڑی جماعتوں — DMK اور AIADMK — کے بعد اب Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam اقتدار کے مرکز میں آچکی ہے۔

وجے کی جماعت نے تنہا اکثریت حاصل نہ کرنے کے باوجود کانگریس، CPI، CPI(M)، VCK اور IUML کی حمایت سے 120 اراکین کی تائید حاصل کی، جس کے بعد مخلوط حکومت کی راہ ہموار ہوئی۔ سیاسی مبصرین کے مطابق یہ اتحاد آنے والے دنوں میں ریاستی سیاست کے مزاج کو نئی سمت دے سکتا ہے۔

حلف برداری کے دوران ایک دلچسپ لمحہ اُس وقت آیا جب وجے نے سرکاری متن سے ہٹ کر حلف شروع کرنے کی کوشش کی، تاہم گورنر نے انہیں باضابطہ متن پڑھنے کی یاد دہانی کرائی۔ اس مختصر لمحے نے تقریب کو ایک انسانی رنگ بھی عطا کیا، جہاں ایک فلمی ہیرو پہلی مرتبہ اقتدار کے حقیقی اسکرپٹ سے روبرو دکھائی دیا۔

ان کے ساتھ نو وزراء نے بھی حلف اٹھایا، جن میں ‘بَسی’ این آنند، آدھو ارجُنا، کے اے سینگوٹّیئن، پی وینکٹارامنن اور ایس کیرتھنا شامل ہیں۔ کانگریس نے اگرچہ حکومت کی حمایت کی، تاہم آج کی تقریب میں اس کے کسی رکن نے وزارت کا حلف نہیں لیا۔

دوسری جانب سبکدوش ہونے والے وزیرِ اعلیٰ M. K. Stalin نے ایک مہذب جمہوری روایت قائم کرتے ہوئے نئی حکومت سے اپیل کی کہ وہ سابق DMK حکومت کی عوامی فلاحی اسکیموں کو جاری رکھے تاکہ خواتین، نوجوانوں، طلبہ اور محروم طبقات کو فائدہ پہنچتا رہے۔

تمل ناڈو کی سیاست ہمیشہ شخصیتوں، نظریات اور عوامی جذبات کا امتزاج رہی ہے۔ آج اسی سرزمین نے ایک فلمی پردے کے ہیرو کو عوامی مینڈیٹ کے ذریعے اقتدار کی حقیقی کرسی پر بٹھا دیا۔ اب سوال صرف یہ نہیں کہ وجے کتنے مقبول ہیں، بلکہ یہ ہے کہ آیا وہ عوامی امیدوں کو حکمرانی کی سنجیدہ ذمہ داریوں میں ڈھال پائیں گے یا نہیں۔

A New Script of Power Begins in Tamil Nadu

Vijay sworn in as Chief Minister, ending six decades of Dravidian political dominance

C. Joseph Vijay was sworn in today as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu at Chennai’s Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, marking the beginning of a dramatic new political era in the State.

The actor-turned-politician, whose rise from cinema screens to the corridors of power has captivated millions, now stands at the centre of Tamil Nadu’s political destiny. Amid thunderous applause, waving party flags, and emotional chants from supporters, Vijay took the oath of office administered by Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar.

The ceremony was attended by several national and regional leaders, including Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, symbolising the fragile yet significant coalition that has brought the new government to power.

This transition is more than a routine change of government. It represents the end of nearly six decades of alternating dominance by Tamil Nadu’s two towering Dravidian parties — DMK and AIADMK. With Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam emerging as the single largest party and securing outside support from Congress, CPI, CPI(M), VCK, and IUML, Tamil Nadu now enters an age of coalition governance shaped by negotiation, symbolism, and public expectation.

A brief yet memorable moment during the oath-taking ceremony captured public attention when Vijay appeared to go slightly off-script before being gently reminded by the Governor to follow the official text. The scene reflected the emotional transition of a cinematic icon stepping into the disciplined realities of constitutional authority.

Nine Ministers were sworn in alongside Vijay, including close associates and senior TVK leaders such as ‘Bussy’ N. Anand, Aadhav Arjuna, K.A. Sengottaiyan, and S. Keerthana. Although the Congress played a decisive role in helping TVK cross the majority mark, none of its legislators joined the Cabinet today.

Outgoing Chief Minister M. K. Stalin struck a statesmanlike tone by urging the new government to continue the welfare schemes introduced during the DMK administration, particularly those benefiting women, youth, students, government employees, and marginalised communities.

Tamil Nadu has long blurred the lines between cinema and politics. Today, that tradition reached another defining moment as a screen hero assumed the highest political office in the State. Yet the applause of the crowd will soon give way to the harder questions of governance, accountability, and public trust.

The real story now begins beyond the stage, beyond the slogans — in the everyday lives of the people who have placed their hopes in a new face of power.
