Bharatiya Janata Party کو تمل ناڈو اسمبلی انتخابات 2026 میں ایک بڑا سیاسی دھچکہ لگا ہے۔ اے آئی اے ڈی ایم کے کی قیادت والے این ڈی اے اتحاد کے تحت 27 نشستوں پر انتخاب لڑنے والی جماعت صرف ایک نشست جیتنے میں کامیاب ہو سکی، جبکہ اس کے کئی اہم اور نمایاں رہنما شکست سے دوچار ہوئے۔
پارٹی کی واحد کامیابی اُدھاگمنڈلم حلقے سے سامنے آئی جہاں ایم۔ بھوجاراجن نے محض 976 ووٹوں کے فرق سے کامیابی حاصل کی۔ اس کے برعکس مرکزی وزیر مملکت L. Murugan، ریاستی صدر Nainar Nagendran، سابق گورنر Tamilisai Soundararajan، اور بی جے پی مہیلا مورچہ کی قومی صدر Vanathi Srinivasan سمیت متعدد اہم چہرے عوامی اعتماد حاصل نہ کر سکے۔
یہ نتیجہ اس اعتبار سے بھی معنی خیز ہے کہ 2024 کے لوک سبھا انتخابات میں بی جے پی نے تمل ناڈو میں اپنی الگ سیاسی شناخت قائم کرتے ہوئے تقریباً 11 فیصد ووٹ حاصل کئے تھے، مگر اسمبلی انتخابات میں اس کی ووٹ شرح دوبارہ تقریباً 3 فیصد تک محدود ہو گئی۔ سیاسی مبصرین کے مطابق یہ فرق اس حقیقت کی طرف اشارہ کرتا ہے کہ قومی سطح کی مقبولیت ہمیشہ ریاستی سیاست میں کامیابی کی ضمانت نہیں بنتی، خصوصاً ایسے صوبے میں جہاں دراوڑی سیاست کی جڑیں دہائیوں سے مضبوط رہی ہیں۔
اتحاد کی دیگر جماعتیں بھی کوئی نمایاں کارکردگی نہ دکھا سکیں۔ تمل مانیلا کانگریس، جس نے بی جے پی کے انتخابی نشان “کمل” پر پانچ نشستوں پر مقابلہ کیا، تمام نشستیں ہار گئی۔ اس کے علاوہ کئی علاقائی اتحادی امیدوار بھی کامیابی حاصل نہ کر سکے۔
تمل ناڈو کے اس انتخابی منظرنامے نے ایک بار پھر واضح کر دیا ہے کہ ریاست کی سیاست اب بھی علاقائی شناخت، سماجی انصاف، اور مقامی سیاسی بیانیے کے گرد گھومتی ہے۔ قومی جماعتوں کے لئے یہاں مستقل سیاسی زمین تیار کرنا اب بھی ایک بڑا چیلنج بنا ہوا ہے۔

Bharatiya Janata Party has suffered a significant electoral setback in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, winning only one out of the 27 seats it contested as part of the AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
The party’s lone victory came from the Udhagamandalam constituency, where M. Bhojarajan secured a narrow win by just 976 votes. However, several prominent BJP leaders failed to retain public support, including Union Minister of State L. Murugan, State BJP president Nainar Nagendran, former Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, and senior leader Vanathi Srinivasan.
The outcome is particularly striking because the BJP had recorded nearly 11% vote share in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections while contesting independently of the major Dravidian parties. In contrast, the party’s vote share in the present Assembly election reportedly fell back to nearly 3%, underlining the enduring complexity of Tamil Nadu’s regional political landscape.
Political observers believe the results reinforce a long-standing reality of Tamil Nadu politics: national momentum does not automatically translate into regional success. The State’s political identity continues to revolve around Dravidian ideology, regional aspirations, and social justice narratives that have shaped its electoral culture for decades.
The BJP’s allies also failed to make a meaningful impact. The Tamil Maanila Congress, which contested five seats on the BJP’s lotus symbol, lost all of them, while several regional alliance candidates were also defeated.
The election has once again demonstrated that Tamil Nadu remains one of India’s most distinctive political theatres, where regional sentiment continues to outweigh national political currents.
