وزارتِ پیٹرولیم کے مطابق آگ Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) کے قریب لگی، جو کسی بھی ریفائنری کا بنیادی حصہ ہوتا ہے۔ اسی وجہ سے افتتاحی تقریب کو مؤخر کر دیا گیا، اور نئی تاریخ کا اعلان بعد میں کیا جائے گا۔

خوش آئند پہلو یہ رہا کہ اس حادثے میں کوئی جانی نقصان نہیں ہوا، اور آگ کو بروقت قابو میں لے لیا گیا۔ ابتدائی تحقیقات سے اشارہ ملتا ہے کہ ہائیڈروکاربن کے اخراج نے اس حادثے کو جنم دیا۔

یہ ریفائنری، جس کی لاگت تقریباً ₹79,459 کروڑ ہے، نہ صرف ایک صنعتی منصوبہ بلکہ راجستھان کے عوام کی معاشی امیدوں کی علامت بھی ہے۔ ریاست کے وزیر اعلیٰ Bhajanlal Sharma نے اسے “بدقسمت” قرار دیتے ہوئے یقین دلایا کہ افتتاح جلد ہی کیا جائے گا، جبکہ سابق وزیر اعلیٰ Ashok Gehlot نے بھی اس واقعے پر افسوس کا اظہار کیا۔

یہ واقعہ ہمیں یاد دلاتا ہے کہ ترقی کے سفر میں صرف خواب کافی نہیں ہوتے—حفاظت، ذمہ داری اور احتیاط بھی اسی قدر ضروری ہیں۔

A fire broke out at the HPCL Rajasthan Refinery Limited in Balotra, Rajasthan, on April 20, 2026—just a day before its scheduled inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

According to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, the fire occurred near the Crude Distillation Unit (CDU)—a critical component of refinery operations. As a result, the inauguration has been postponed, with a new date to be announced soon.

Authorities confirmed that there were no casualties, and the fire was swiftly brought under control. Preliminary findings suggest that a hydrocarbon leak in the heat exchanger circuit may have triggered the incident.

This massive ₹79,459 crore project is more than an industrial facility—it represents economic aspiration for the people of Rajasthan. Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma termed the incident “unfortunate” but reassured that the inauguration would take place soon. Former CM Ashok Gehlot also expressed concern over the timing of the incident.
