ڈھاکہ کی فضا میں ایک نئے سیاسی باب کی آہٹ سنائی دے رہی ہے۔ بنگلہ دیش نیشنلسٹ پارٹی (بی این پی) کے چیئرمین طارق رحمن منگل کے روز وزیر اعظم کے عہدے کا حلف اٹھائیں گے، اور اس تاریخی تقریب میں بھارت کی نمائندگی لوک سبھا کے اسپیکر اوم برلا کریں گے۔

عبوری حکومت کے چیف ایڈوائزر محمد یونس نے بھارت سمیت تیرہ ممالک — چین، سعودی عرب، پاکستان، ترکی، متحدہ عرب امارات، قطر، ملائیشیا، برونائی، سری لنکا، نیپال، مالدیپ اور بھوٹان — کے سربراہانِ حکومت کو تقریبِ حلف برداری میں مدعو کیا ہے۔ وزیر اعظم نریندر مودی کو بھی دعوت دی گئی تھی، تاہم ممبئی میں پیشگی مصروفیات کے سبب وہ شرکت نہ کر سکے۔

وزارتِ خارجہ نے اپنے بیان میں کہا کہ اس اہم موقع پر اسپیکر کی شرکت دونوں ممالک کے عوام کے درمیان گہری اور دیرینہ دوستی کی علامت ہے، اور یہ اس عزم کا اظہار ہے کہ بھارت جمہوری اقدار کے احترام میں بنگلہ دیش کے ساتھ کھڑا ہے۔

طارق رحمن سے حلف چیف الیکشن کمشنر اے ایم ایم ناصرالدین لیں گے، جو حالیہ عام انتخابات کے بعد آئینی انتقالِ اقتدار کی تکمیل کی نشاندہی کرتا ہے۔

تقریب ڈھاکہ میں بنگلہ دیش پارلیمنٹ ہاؤس کے سدرن پلازہ میں منعقد ہونے کی توقع ہے۔
یہ انتقالِ اقتدار اس عبوری حکومت کے بعد ہو رہا ہے جس نے اگست 2024 میں طلبہ تحریک کے نتیجے میں شیخ حسینہ کی طویل حکمرانی کے خاتمے کے بعد ملک کی باگ ڈور سنبھالی تھی۔

سترہ برس برطانیہ میں جلاوطنی گزارنے کے بعد دسمبر میں وطن واپسی کرنے والے طارق رحمن کے لیے یہ کامیابی ایک غیر معمولی سیاسی واپسی سمجھی جا رہی ہے۔ انتخابی کمیشن کے مطابق بی این پی اتحاد نے 212 نشستیں حاصل کیں، جب کہ جماعتِ اسلامی کی قیادت والے اتحاد کو 77 نشستیں ملیں۔

یہ تقریب صرف اقتدار کی منتقلی نہیں، بلکہ جنوبی ایشیا کی سیاست میں ایک نئے توازن اور سفارتی حرکیات کی علامت بھی ہے۔

A new political chapter is set to unfold in Dhaka as Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairman Tarique Rahman prepares to take oath as Prime Minister on Tuesday. Representing India at this historic ceremony will be Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.

In a notable diplomatic gesture, Chief Adviser of the interim government Muhammad Yunus invited heads of government from thirteen nations — India, China, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Malaysia, Brunei, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Maldives, and Bhutan — to witness the constitutional transition.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also invited but could not attend due to prior engagements in Mumbai.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs stated that the Speaker’s presence underscores the deep and enduring friendship between the peoples of India and Bangladesh, reaffirming India’s steadfast commitment to democratic values that bind the two nations.

The oath will be administered by Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin, marking the formal constitutional transfer of power following the general elections.

The ceremony is expected to be held at the Southern Plaza of the Bangladesh Parliament House in Dhaka.

Rahman succeeds an interim administration that has governed Bangladesh since the student-led uprising in August 2024 ended Sheikh Hasina’s long rule.

His ascent represents a remarkable political resurgence. Having returned to Bangladesh only in December after 17 years of exile in Britain, Tarique Rahman now steps into leadership with a strong mandate. The BNP alliance secured 212 seats, while the Jamaat-e-Islami-led alliance won 77 seats, according to the Electoral Commission.

Beyond a change in leadership, the ceremony reflects a shifting diplomatic and democratic rhythm in South Asia — a reminder that history, in this region, is often rewritten through the ballot.
