لوک سبھا میں قائدِ حزبِ اختلاف Rahul Gandhi نے این ڈی اے حکومت پر سخت تنقید کرتے ہوئے الزام عائد کیا کہ امریکہ کے ساتھ طے پانے والا عبوری تجارتی معاہدہ ہندوستان کی توانائی سلامتی، ڈیٹا سکیورٹی اور کسانوں کے مستقبل کے لیے نقصان دہ ہے۔
انہوں نے بجٹ سیشن کے دوران خطاب کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ یہ معاہدہ ہندوستان کے مالیاتی نظام کو بیرونی دباؤ کے لیے کھولنے کے مترادف ہے۔ ان کے مطابق، "تاریخ میں پہلی بار ہمارے کسان طوفان کا سامنا کر رہے ہیں۔ آپ نے دروازے کھول دیے ہیں تاکہ غریب کسانوں کو کچلا جا سکے۔ یہ شرمناک ہے۔”
قبل ازیں صدر کے خطاب پر تحریکِ تشکر کے دوران انہیں بولنے سے روکے جانے پر ایوان میں حکومت اور اپوزیشن کے درمیان کشیدگی دیکھی گئی۔ بعد ازاں بجٹ پر بحث کے دوران انہوں نے اپنی تنقید کو مزید تیز کر دیا۔
حکومت کی جانب سے ان الزامات کو بے بنیاد قرار دیا گیا ہے۔ این ڈی اے کے اراکین نے اعلان کیا کہ وہ ان بیانات پر "استحقاق کی خلاف ورزی” کی تحریک لائیں گے۔ مرکزی وزیر Hardeep Singh Puri نے بھی راہل گاندھی کے بیانات کو "اشارہ بازی اور بدنامی کی مہم” قرار دیا۔
سیاسی مبصرین کے مطابق یہ تنازع آئندہ دنوں میں مزید شدت اختیار کر سکتا ہے، خاص طور پر جب بجٹ اور خارجہ پالیسی جیسے حساس معاملات زیر بحث ہوں۔ اپوزیشن اس معاملے کو کسانوں اور خودمختاری کے تناظر میں اٹھا رہی ہے، جبکہ حکومت اسے معاشی مفاد اور عالمی شراکت داری کا تقاضا قرار دے رہی ہے۔

Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Wednesday accused the NDA government of compromising India’s energy security, data sovereignty, and the future of its farmers by signing the interim trade agreement with the United States.
Speaking during the Union Budget discussion, Mr. Gandhi alleged that the agreement effectively opened India’s financial systems to external leverage. “For the first time in history, our farmers are facing the storm. You have opened the doors to crush our poor farmers. This is disgraceful,” he said.
Tensions had earlier flared when Mr. Gandhi was reportedly prevented from speaking during the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address. He later used the Budget debate to intensify his criticism.
The government dismissed the allegations as baseless. NDA members announced that they would move a breach of privilege motion against Mr. Gandhi over what they termed “unsubstantiated and false” claims. Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri described the remarks as “innuendo and a smear campaign.”
Political observers believe the controversy may escalate further as debates over the Budget and foreign trade policy continue in Parliament, with the Opposition framing the issue around farmers’ interests and sovereignty, while the government defends it as a strategic economic partnership.
