ابتدا میں یہ بورڈ چند عالمی رہنماؤں پر مشتمل ایک محدود ادارہ سمجھا جا رہا تھا، جس کا مقصد غزہ میں جنگ بندی کے منصوبے کی نگرانی تھا۔ تاہم، وقت کے ساتھ ٹرمپ انتظامیہ کے عزائم وسیع ہوتے گئے، اور اب درجنوں ممالک کو اس میں شمولیت کی دعوت دی جا چکی ہے۔
صدر ٹرمپ جلد ہی World Economic Forum کے اجلاس کے لیے ڈیووس پہنچ رہے ہیں، جہاں اس بورڈ سے متعلق مزید تفصیلات سامنے آنے کی توقع ہے۔ اسی تناظر میں اسرائیلی وزیر اعظم Benjamin Netanyahu نے اعلان کیا ہے کہ وہ اس بورڈ میں شمولیت پر آمادہ ہو گئے ہیں، حالانکہ ماضی میں وہ غزہ جنگ بندی سے متعلق اس کے ذیلی ڈھانچے پر تنقید کر چکے تھے۔
بورڈ کے مجوزہ چارٹر کا حتمی متن تاحال عوام کے سامنے نہیں آیا، تاہم ایسوسی ایٹڈ پریس کو دستیاب ایک مسودے کے مطابق، بورڈ کے اختیارات کا مرکز صدر ٹرمپ کی ذات ہو گی۔ مسودے میں یہ بھی درج ہے کہ پہلے ہی سال میں ایک ارب ڈالر کی مالی شراکت مستقل رکنیت کی ضمانت بن سکتی ہے۔

جبکہ برطانیہ، کینیڈا، مصر، ترکی، بھارت، چین، روس، یوکرین اور یورپی یونین سمیت متعدد عالمی قوتوں کو دعوت نامے موصول ہوئے ہیں۔
دوسری جانب، ناروے، سویڈن اور فرانس نے فی الحال اس بورڈ سے دور رہنے کا اعلان کیا ہے۔ فرانسیسی وزیر خارجہ نے واضح کیا کہ امن کے کسی بھی منصوبے کی حمایت کی جا سکتی ہے، مگر اقوام متحدہ کے متبادل ادارے کی تشکیل ناقابلِ قبول ہے۔ اس پر صدر ٹرمپ کا سخت اور طنزیہ ردِعمل بھی سامنے آیا۔
ذیلی ادارے اور غزہ کا مستقبل
وائٹ ہاؤس کے مطابق، ایک ایگزیکٹو بورڈ اور ایک علیحدہ غزہ ایگزیکٹو بورڈ بھی تشکیل دیا جا رہا ہے، جو جنگ بندی کے اگلے مرحلے، سلامتی، حماس کے اسلحہ سے دستبرداری اور غزہ کی تعمیرِ نو جیسے پیچیدہ امور کی نگرانی کرے گا۔

A New Council for Peace or Power Redefined? — Trump’s ‘Board of Peace’ Sparks Global Debate
The proposed Board of Peace, spearheaded by U.S. President Donald Trump, is rapidly evolving from a limited mechanism overseeing the Gaza ceasefire into a far more ambitious global body — one that critics say could rival, or even undermine, the authority of the United Nations Security Council.
Initially conceived as a small group of leaders monitoring the Gaza ceasefire plan, the initiative has since expanded dramatically. Dozens of countries have now received invitations, with President Trump hinting that the board could help resolve conflicts far beyond Gaza.
As Trump heads to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, further clarity is expected. Ahead of the meeting, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that he would join the board, despite earlier criticism of its Gaza-focused committee.
Although the board’s final charter has not been released, a draft obtained by the Associated Press suggests that significant authority would rest with Trump himself. According to the draft, countries contributing more than $1 billion in their first year could secure permanent membership.
Under the proposed structure, the chairman would hold sweeping powers — from inviting members and breaking voting ties to determining meeting schedules and creating or dissolving subsidiary bodies.
Global Responses: Support, Skepticism, and Rejection
Several nations — including Israel, the UAE, Azerbaijan, Morocco and Hungary — have agreed to participate, while invitations have also been extended to Britain, Canada, Egypt, Turkey, India, China, Russia, Ukraine and the European Union.
However, Norway, Sweden and France have declined to join for now. France, in particular, has emphasized its support for peace initiatives while rejecting any framework that could replace the United Nations — a stance that drew sharp remarks from Trump.
Gaza and Beyond
The White House has announced additional executive bodies, including a Gaza Executive Board, tasked with overseeing the next phase of the ceasefire, security arrangements, the disarmament of Hamas and the reconstruction of Gaza.
Observers say the Board of Peace represents a bold — and controversial — attempt to reshape global conflict resolution. Whether it becomes a genuine instrument of peace or a symbol of power politics remains an open question.
