ہندوستانی سیاست کے افق پر ایک بار پھر گرد اُڑ رہی ہے۔ اس بار منظرنامہ بنگال ہے، کردار ایک طاقتور وزیرِ اعلیٰ، اور پسِ منظر میں وہ ادارہ جس کا نام آتے ہی اقتدار کے ایوانوں میں خاموشی پھیل جاتی ہے—ای۔ ڈی۔

ممتا بنرجی کا نام ایک بار پھر سرخیوں میں ہے۔ الزام یہ نہیں کہ وہ مجرم ہیں، سوال یہ ہے کہ کیا طاقت خود کو جواب دہ سمجھتی ہے؟ ای۔ ڈی کا دعویٰ، آئی۔ پیک کا تذکرہ، اور سیاسی جماعتوں کی تیز زبان—یہ سب مل کر ایک ایسا ہنگامہ برپا کر رہے ہیں جس میں سچ کی آواز مدھم پڑنے کا خطرہ ہے۔

انفورسمنٹ ڈائریکٹوریٹ کا کردار بظاہر قانون کی پاسداری کا ہے، مگر سوال یہ ہے کہ کیا احتساب کا عمل واقعی غیر جانب دار ہے؟ یا پھر یہ وہی پرانا کھیل ہے جس میں قانون کبھی ڈھال بنتا ہے اور کبھی تلوار؟ جب تحقیقاتی ادارے سیاسی بیانیے کا حصہ بن جائیں تو انصاف کی کرسی ہلنے لگتی ہے۔

اس کہانی میں ایک اور نام بھی ابھرتا ہے—آئی۔ پیک۔ انتخابی حکمتِ عملی، ڈیٹا، اور سیاسی مشاورت—یہ سب جمہوریت کے نئے اوزار ہیں۔ مگر سوال یہ ہے کہ کیا سیاست اب نظریات کی نہیں، فائلوں اور لیپ ٹاپس کی جنگ بن چکی ہے؟ اگر الزامات درست ہیں تو شفافیت ناگزیر ہے، اور اگر بے بنیاد ہیں تو کردار کُشی کا احتساب بھی اتنا ہی ضروری ہے۔

ممتا بنرجی کا لہجہ ہمیشہ مزاحمتی رہا ہے۔ وہ خود کو مرکز کے جبر کے خلاف آواز کہتی ہیں۔ مگر تاریخ گواہ ہے کہ طاقت جب طویل ہو جائے تو مزاحمت بھی احتساب سے آزاد نہیں رہتی۔ جمہوریت میں سب سے خطرناک لمحہ وہ ہوتا ہے جب لیڈر خود کو قانون سے بالا سمجھنے لگے، اور ادارے خود کو سیاست سے الگ نہ رکھ پائیں۔

الف نیوز یہ نہیں کہتا کہ کون قصوروار ہے—یہ عدالتوں کا کام ہے۔ مگر ہم یہ ضرور کہتے ہیں کہ
جمہوریت کا حسن شور میں نہیں، شفافیت میں ہے۔
طاقت کی سچائی نعروں میں نہیں، جواب دہی میں ہے۔
اور اداروں کی ساکھ کارروائی میں نہیں، غیر جانبداری میں پنہاں ہے۔

آج اگر سوال ممتا بنرجی کا ہے، تو کل کسی اور کا ہوگا۔
آج اگر ای۔ ڈی کٹہرے میں ہے، تو کل سیاست خود ہو سکتی ہے۔
فیصلہ وقت کرے گا، مگر تاریخ صرف اُنہیں یاد رکھتی ہے جو طاقت کے باوجود آئین کے سامنے جھک گئے۔

Power, Accountability, and the Line of Allegation

Once again, dust rises on the horizon of Indian politics. This time, the stage is Bengal, the central figure is a powerful Chief Minister, and in the background stands an institution whose very name sends a ripple of unease through corridors of power—the Enforcement Directorate.

Mamata Banerjee has returned to the headlines. The allegation is not a verdict; the question is deeper: Does power consider itself accountable?
The claims of the ED, the reference to I-PAC, and the sharp rhetoric of political parties together have created a storm—one in which the voice of truth risks being drowned by noise.

Enforcement Directorate is, in principle, a custodian of law. Yet the question persists: is the process of accountability truly impartial, or has it become another chapter in the old game where law alternates between shield and sword? When investigative agencies slip into political narratives, the chair of justice begins to tremble.

Another name emerges in this unfolding story—I-PAC.
Electoral strategy, data, and political consultancy are now modern tools of democracy. But one must ask: Has politics ceased to be a battle of ideas and turned into a war of files and laptops?
If the allegations are valid, transparency is non-negotiable. If they are baseless, then character assassination too must face accountability.

Mamata Banerjee’s political tone has long been one of resistance. She presents herself as a voice against central dominance. Yet history reminds us that when power becomes prolonged, resistance cannot remain exempt from scrutiny.
In a democracy, the most dangerous moment is when leaders begin to see themselves above the law—and institutions fail to remain distant from politics.

Alif News does not declare guilt; that is the domain of courts.
But we do assert this:

Democracy finds its dignity not in uproar, but in transparency.
The truth of power lies not in slogans, but in accountability.
And the credibility of institutions rests not in action alone, but in impartiality.

Today, the question may concern Mamata Banerjee. Tomorrow, it could concern someone else.
Today, the ED stands under scrutiny. Tomorrow, politics itself may face the mirror.

Time will deliver its verdict—but history remembers only those who, despite power, bowed before the Constitution.
