شرمیلا ٹیگور کا مؤقف وندے ماترم پر

معروف اداکارہ شرمیلا ٹیگور نے ’وندے ماترم‘ کی پیشکش سے متعلق جاری تنازع کے درمیان کہا ہے کہ ملک میں قومی نغمے کے طور پر اس کے صرف پہلے دو بند ہی پیش کیے جانے چاہئیں۔

شرمیلا ٹیگور کے مطابق ہندوستان ایک ایسا ملک ہے جہاں مختلف مذاہب کے ماننے والے بستے ہیں اور کئی مذاہب کے پیروکار ایک خدا پر ایمان رکھتے ہیں۔ ان کا کہنا تھا کہ ’وندے ماترم‘ کے بعد کے بندوں میں متعدد دیویوں کا ذکر آتا ہے، جس کی وجہ سے ایک خدا پر یقین رکھنے والے لوگوں کے لیے ’’وندے کالی، وندے درگا‘‘ جیسے الفاظ ادا کرنا مشکل ہوسکتا ہے۔

ان کا یہ بیان ایسے وقت سامنے آیا ہے جب ’وندے ماترم‘ کی پیشکش کو لے کر بھارتیہ جنتا پارٹی اور کانگریس کے درمیان سیاسی کشمکش جاری ہے۔ کانگریس کی مجلسِ عاملہ نے پارٹی کی تقریبات میں صرف پہلے دو بند پیش کرنے کے اپنے سابقہ موقف کو ایک بار پھر واضح کیا ہے، جبکہ بی جے پی نے کانگریس پر قومی نغمے کی توہین کا الزام عائد کیا ہے۔

یہ تنازع 15 اگست کو لال قلعے سے ’وندے ماترم‘ کی مکمل پیشکش کے بعد مزید شدت اختیار کر گیا۔ اسی دوران معروف اداکار مکیش کھنہ نے ’وندے ماترم‘ کو قومی ترانہ بنانے کی حمایت کرتے ہوئے موجودہ قومی ترانے ’جنا گنا من‘ کے حوالے سے بھی اپنی رائے ظاہر کی ہے۔

’وندے ماترم‘ پر جاری بحث محض ایک نغمے کی پیشکش کا مسئلہ نہیں، بلکہ یہ ہندوستان کی کثیر مذہبی، کثیر ثقافتی اور آئینی روح کے ساتھ وابستہ ایک حساس سوال بن چکی ہے۔

Vande Mataram: Sharmila Tagore Backs Rendition of Only the First Two Stanzas

Veteran actor Sharmila Tagore has spoken in favour of presenting only the first two stanzas of Vande Mataram amid the ongoing political controversy surrounding the national song.

Tagore pointed out that India is home to people belonging to several faiths, many of whom believe in one God. She observed that the later portions of the song contain references to multiple Hindu goddesses, which could make phrases such as “Vande Kali, Vande Durga” difficult for people who believe in a single God to recite.

Her remarks come amid an intensifying political dispute between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress over the rendition of Vande Mataram. The Congress Working Committee has reiterated its longstanding position that only the first two stanzas should be performed at party events, while the BJP has accused Congress of disrespecting the national song.

The controversy gained further momentum after a full rendition of Vande Mataram at the Red Fort on August 15. Amid the debate, actor Mukesh Khanna has also voiced support for making Vande Mataram the national anthem and expressed his views on the existing national anthem, Jana Gana Mana.

The controversy has consequently moved beyond the question of how a song should be performed, touching upon the larger questions of India’s religious diversity, constitutional values and the meaning of national identity.
