ریپ کے مجرموں کے حامی کو وزیرِ تعلیم بنایا گیا: راہل گاندھی کی پرہلاد جوشی پر شدید تنقید

نئی دہلی: لوک سبھا میں قائدِ حزبِ اختلاف راہل گاندھی نے مرکزی کابینہ میں پرہلاد جوشی کو وزارتِ تعلیم کا اضافی قلمدان دیے جانے پر سخت اعتراض کرتے ہوئے کہا ہے کہ حکومت نے ایسے شخص پر اعتماد کیا ہے جس نے بلقیس بانو اجتماعی عصمت دری کیس کے مجرموں کی قبل از وقت رہائی کی حمایت کی تھی۔

راہل گاندھی نے پارلیمنٹ کے باہر صحافیوں سے گفتگو کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ ملک بھر میں طلبہ، بالخصوص طالبات، تعلیمی نظام اور پرچہ افشا کے معاملات پر احتجاج کر رہی ہیں، لیکن حکومت نے وزارتِ تعلیم ایسے شخص کے حوالے کی ہے جس نے ریپ کے مجرموں کے حق میں موقف اختیار کیا تھا۔ ان کا کہنا تھا کہ اس تقرری سے خواتین اور نوجوانوں کو انتہائی غلط پیغام گیا ہے۔

کانگریس کی رکنِ پارلیمنٹ پرینکا گاندھی واڈرا نے بھی لوک سبھا میں اسی مسئلے کو اٹھاتے ہوئے کہا کہ وزیرِ اعظم نریندر مودی نے ایک ایسے رہنما کو وزارتِ تعلیم سونپی جس نے ایک حاملہ خاتون کے ساتھ اجتماعی عصمت دری کے مجرموں کی رہائی کی حمایت کی تھی۔ ان کے مطابق اس فیصلے سے ملک کی کروڑوں بیٹیوں میں بے چینی پیدا ہوئی ہے۔

پرہلاد جوشی نے 2022 میں بلقیس بانو کیس کے 11 سزا یافتہ مجرموں کی قبل از وقت رہائی کے فیصلے کا دفاع کرتے ہوئے کہا تھا کہ رہائی قانونی طریقۂ کار کے مطابق عمل میں آئی ہے اور قیدیوں کے رویے کو بھی مدنظر رکھا گیا تھا۔ تاہم بعد ازاں سپریم کورٹ نے اس رہائی کو کالعدم قرار دیتے ہوئے کہا کہ معافی کا حکم قانونی اختیار کے مطابق جاری نہیں کیا گیا تھا۔

واضح رہے کہ سابق وزیرِ تعلیم دھرمیندر پردھان نے حالیہ دنوں میں ملک گیر پرچہ افشا مخالف احتجاج کے دباؤ کے بعد استعفیٰ دیا تھا، جس کے بعد پرہلاد جوشی کو وزارتِ تعلیم کی اضافی ذمہ داری سونپی گئی ہے۔

Rahul Gandhi Slams Pralhad Joshi’s Appointment as Education Minister Over Bilkis Bano Convicts Remark

New Delhi: Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi has strongly criticised the appointment of Pralhad Joshi as the Union Education Minister, alleging that the government has entrusted the country’s education system to a leader who had publicly defended the premature release of convicts in the Bilkis Bano case.

Speaking to reporters outside Parliament, Rahul Gandhi said that while students, especially young women, have been protesting across the country over issues related to the education system and examination paper leaks, the government has chosen a minister who had justified the release of those convicted in a rape case. He described the appointment as a disturbing message to the nation’s youth and women.

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra echoed the criticism in the Lok Sabha, stating that appointing a leader who had supported the release of the convicts in the Bilkis Bano case sends a deeply troubling signal to millions of girls across India.

Pralhad Joshi had defended the Gujarat government’s 2022 decision to grant remission to the 11 convicts, arguing that the release was carried out under the legal process and after considering their conduct in prison. However, in 2024, the Supreme Court quashed the remission, ruling that the order granting their early release lacked legal competence.

Former Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned following sustained nationwide protests against repeated examination paper leaks. After his resignation, the Centre assigned the additional charge of the Education Ministry to Pralhad Joshi.
