بھارت اس وقت ایک ایسے نازک موڑ پر کھڑا دکھائی دیتا ہے جہاں مختلف طبقات کی بے چینی مسلسل بڑھتی جا رہی ہے۔ دہلی میں آج طلبہ کے احتجاج کے دوران پولیس کارروائی، لاٹھی چارج، آنسو گیس کے استعمال اور متعدد طلبہ و طالبات کے زخمی ہونے کی اطلاعات نے ملک بھر میں نئی بحث چھیڑ دی ہے۔ ان واقعات کے دوران نیلی وردیوں میں ملبوس ایسے اہلکار بھی دیکھے گئے جن کی شناخت عوام کے لیے واضح نہیں تھی، جس سے شفافیت اور جواب دہی کے حوالے سے مزید سوالات پیدا ہوئے۔

یہ معاملہ صرف طلبہ تک محدود نہیں رہا۔ اطلاعات کے مطابق کل کسان دہلی کا رخ کرنے والے ہیں، جبکہ اس کے بعد مختلف مسلم تنظیمیں بھی جنتر منتر پر احتجاج کی تیاری کر رہی ہیں۔ اس سے یہ تاثر مضبوط ہو رہا ہے کہ ملک کے مختلف سماجی اور سیاسی طبقات حکومت کی متعدد پالیسیوں پر اپنی ناراضی کا اظہار کر رہے ہیں۔ دوسری جانب حکومت پارلیمنٹ کے مانسون اجلاس میں کئی اہم اور متنازعہ بل پیش کرنے اور منظور کرانے کی کوشش میں مصروف ہے، جن پر نہ صرف اپوزیشن بلکہ سول سوسائٹی کے مختلف حلقے بھی اعتراضات اٹھا رہے ہیں۔

جمہوریت کی اصل طاقت اختلافِ رائے کو برداشت کرنے، عوام کی آواز سننے اور مسائل کا حل مذاکرات کے ذریعے تلاش کرنے میں مضمر ہے۔ اگر احتجاج کرنے والے طلبہ، کسان، مزدور یا دیگر سماجی گروہ اپنے مطالبات لے کر سڑکوں پر آ رہے ہیں تو یہ حکومت کے لیے ایک موقع بھی ہے کہ وہ طاقت کے استعمال کے بجائے اعتماد سازی، بات چیت اور آئینی طریقۂ کار کو ترجیح دے۔

ملک میں بڑھتی ہوئی کشیدگی کسی بھی جمہوری نظام کے لیے نیک شگون نہیں۔ ایسے حالات میں حکومت کی اولین ذمہ داری یہ ہونی چاہیے کہ وہ عوام کے خدشات کو سنجیدگی سے سنے، طلبہ اور دیگر احتجاجی گروہوں کے جائز مطالبات پر مثبت غور کرے، اور ایسا ماحول پیدا کرے جہاں اختلاف کو دشمنی نہیں بلکہ جمہوریت کا لازمی جز سمجھا جائے۔

بھارت کی جمہوری روایت ہمیشہ مکالمے، رواداری اور آئینی بالادستی سے مضبوط ہوئی ہے۔ آج بھی ضرورت اسی بات کی ہے کہ تصادم کے بجائے گفت و شنید، اور طاقت کے بجائے اعتماد کے راستے کو اختیار کیا جائے تاکہ ملک میں امن، استحکام اور قومی یکجہتی برقرار رہ سکے۔

Rising Public Unrest Calls for Dialogue, Not Confrontation

India appears to be passing through a period of growing public anxiety, with protests emerging from different sections of society. Reports of police action during student demonstrations in Delhi, including the use of batons and tear gas and injuries to several protesters, have sparked widespread debate. Questions have also been raised over the presence of personnel in blue uniforms whose identities were not readily identifiable, adding to concerns about transparency and accountability during crowd-control operations.

The unrest is not confined to students alone. Farmers are expected to march to Delhi, and several Muslim organisations have announced plans to hold protests at Jantar Mantar in the coming days. Taken together, these developments suggest that multiple sections of society are expressing dissatisfaction with various government policies. At the same time, the government is seeking to advance several contentious bills during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament, measures that have drawn criticism from opposition parties as well as sections of civil society.

In any democracy, the strength of the system lies in its ability to accommodate dissent and address grievances through dialogue rather than confrontation. When students, farmers and other citizens take to the streets to voice their concerns, the response should ideally prioritise engagement, transparency and constitutional processes over the use of force.

Escalating tensions benefit neither the government nor the people. The need of the hour is for meaningful dialogue, confidence-building measures and a sincere effort to address legitimate public concerns. Listening to citizens, responding to peaceful demands and preserving democratic space are essential for maintaining public trust.

India’s democratic legacy has always rested on debate, constitutional values and respect for differing opinions. At this critical moment, dialogue—not confrontation—offers the most constructive path towards restoring confidence, social harmony and national stability.
