نیپال میں آج ’’یومِ خاتمۂ ذات پات امتیاز و چھوا چھوت‘‘ منایا گیا

کبھی سماج کی دیواروں پر لکھی جانے والی تفریق کی سیاہی نسلوں تک انسانوں کے دلوں پر نقش چھوڑ جاتی ہے۔ نیپال نے آج ایک بار پھر اس عہد کی یاد تازہ کی کہ انسان کی عزت و وقار کسی ذات، برادری یا پیدائش کے خانے میں قید نہیں کیا جا سکتا۔

نیپال میں آج ’’یومِ خاتمۂ ذات پات امتیاز و چھوا چھوت‘‘ منایا گیا۔ اس سال کا مرکزی نعرہ تھا: ’’دلت برادری کو انصاف تک رسائی کے لیے ریاستی اداروں کی مؤثر فعالیت‘‘۔ یہ دن اس تاریخی اعلان کی یاد دلاتا ہے جب 4 جون 2006 کو نیپال نے خود کو ذات پات کی بنیاد پر امتیاز اور چھوا چھوت سے پاک ریاست قرار دیا تھا۔

دارالحکومت کے قریب لَلِت پور میں منعقدہ تقریب سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے وزیر برائے خواتین، اطفال، صنفی و جنسی اقلیتیں اور سماجی تحفظ، Sita Badi نے کہا کہ ذات پات کی بنیاد پر امتیاز اور چھوا چھوت ایک جمہوری اور ترقی یافتہ معاشرے کی راہ میں رکاوٹ ہیں۔ انہوں نے اس بات پر زور دیا کہ نیپال کی جمہوری جدوجہد میں دلت برادری کا کردار نمایاں اور قابلِ احترام رہا ہے۔

تقریب، جس کا اہتمام National Dalit Commission نے کیا تھا، اس حقیقت کی یاد دہانی بھی بنی کہ قانونی اعلانات کے باوجود سماجی شعور، انصاف کی فراہمی اور برابری کے عملی نفاذ کے لیے مسلسل جدوجہد درکار ہے۔

یہ دن صرف نیپال ہی نہیں بلکہ پورے جنوبی ایشیا کے لیے ایک آئینہ ہے، جو یاد دلاتا ہے کہ معاشروں کی اصل ترقی بلند عمارتوں یا معاشی اعداد و شمار سے نہیں، بلکہ اس بات سے ناپی جاتی ہے کہ وہ اپنے کمزور اور محروم طبقات کو کتنا احترام، تحفظ اور انصاف فراہم کرتے ہیں۔

Nepal Renews Its Pledge Against Caste Discrimination

The stains of social prejudice often outlive generations, lingering long after laws are changed. Nepal today renewed its commitment to building a society where human dignity is not determined by caste, birth, or social status.

The country observed the Day for the Elimination of Caste Discrimination and Untouchability under the theme: “Effective Mobilisation of State Structures for Access to Justice for the Dalit Community.” The occasion commemorates the historic declaration made on June 4, 2006, when Nepal officially proclaimed itself a nation free from caste-based discrimination and untouchability.

Speaking at a programme organized in Lalitpur by the National Dalit Commission, Minister for Women, Children, Gender and Sexual Minorities, and Social Security, Sita Badi, stated that caste discrimination and untouchability remain serious obstacles to a democratic and progressive society.

She highlighted the significant contribution of the Dalit community to Nepal’s democratic movements and emphasized that the day serves as a reminder for authorities and citizens alike to strengthen awareness and action against caste-based discrimination.

Beyond a national observance, the occasion carries a broader message for South Asia and the world: true progress is measured not merely by economic growth or modern infrastructure, but by the extent to which societies uphold equality, dignity, and justice for their most marginalized citizens.
