West Bengal میں اسمبلی انتخابات کے دوران سیاسی ماحول شدید کشیدہ ہوتا جا رہا ہے۔ اطلاعات کے مطابق Bharatiya Janata Party (بی جے پی) اس ریاست میں ہر حال میں کامیابی حاصل کرنے کی خواہاں ہے، مگر زمینی حقیقت اس کے برعکس نظر آ رہی ہے۔
اسی تناظر میں مرکزی حکومت کی جانب سے بھاری تعداد میں سیکیورٹی فورسز تعینات کی گئی ہیں، جن میں تقریباً 24 لاکھ Central Reserve Police Force (سی آر پی ایف) کے جوان، بکتر بند گاڑیاں، اور دیگر مسلح دستے شامل ہیں۔ بظاہر اس اقدام کو "شفاف اور عوام کو خوف سے آزاد ہو کر ووٹ ڈالنے کا موقع فراہم کرنے کے طور پر پیش کیا جا رہا ہے، لیکن زمینی رپورٹس ایک مختلف تصویر دکھا رہی ہیں۔
مقامی سطح پر یہ الزامات سامنے آئے ہیں کہ بی جے پی کے امیدوار اور ان کے حامی ووٹروں کو ڈرا دھمکا رہے ہیں۔ مزید برآں، All India Trinamool Congress (ٹی ایم سی) کے ایک امیدوار جہانگیر کے گھر ایک اعلیٰ سرکاری افسر کی آمد اور مبینہ دھمکیوں نے صورتحال کو مزید سنگین بنا دیا ہے۔
دلچسپ امر یہ ہے کہ جس پارٹی پر ماضی میں انتخابی دھاندلی کے الزامات لگتے رہے ہیں، وہی اب ٹی ایم سی پر ووٹنگ مشین میں چھیڑ چھاڑ کا الزام لگا رہی ہے، جس کے نتیجے میں کئی پولنگ بوتھ پر ووٹنگ روک دی گئی اور دوبارہ پولنگ کا مطالبہ کیا گیا۔
تجزیہ کاروں کے مطابق یہ صورتحال ہندوستانی جمہوریت کے لیے ایک اہم اور نازک موڑ کی نشاندہی کرتی ہے، جہاں خدشہ ظاہر کیا جا رہا ہے کہ حکمران جماعت انتخابی عمل کے بجائے ریاستی مشینری کے ذریعے اقتدار حاصل کرنے کی کوشش کر رہی ہے۔
اسی تناظر میں Bihar کی مثال بھی دی جا رہی ہے، جہاں سیاسی جوڑ توڑ کے ذریعے اقتدار کی تبدیلی نے جمہوری اصولوں پر سوالات اٹھائے تھے۔ مبصرین کے مطابق مغربی بنگال میں بھی اسی طرز کی حکمت عملی اپنائے جانے کے خدشات ظاہر کیے جا رہے ہیں۔
The political atmosphere in West Bengal has grown increasingly tense amid the ongoing assembly elections. Reports suggest that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is determined to secure victory in the state at any cost, although ground realities appear less favorable.
In this context, a massive deployment of security forces has taken place, including nearly 2.4 million personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), along with armored vehicles and other armed units. Officially, this move is being justified as a measure to ensure “free and fair elections” and to enable voters to cast their ballots without fear. However, reports from the ground present a contrasting picture.
Allegations have emerged that BJP candidates and their supporters are intimidating voters. Additionally, an incident involving a senior official visiting and allegedly threatening the residence of a All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate, Jahangir, has further escalated tensions.
Notably, a party that has often faced allegations of electoral malpractice is now accusing the TMC of tampering with voting machines. This has led to voting being halted at several booths and demands for re-polling.
Analysts believe that this moment represents a critical juncture in India’s democratic history, raising concerns that the ruling party may be attempting to consolidate power through state machinery rather than through the electoral process itself.
In this regard, parallels are being drawn with Bihar, where past political developments had already sparked debates about the integrity of democratic mandates. Observers warn that a similar pattern may be unfolding in West Bengal.
