ڈیموکریٹک پارٹی کے کئی رہنماؤں نے ٹرمپ کی جانب سے ایران کے شہری بنیادی ڈھانچے — جیسے بجلی گھروں اور پلوں — کو نشانہ بنانے کی دھمکی کو سخت تنقید کا نشانہ بنایا ہے۔ ماہرین کے مطابق ایسے اقدامات بین الاقوامی قوانین کے تحت جنگی جرائم کے زمرے میں آ سکتے ہیں۔
ڈیموکریٹ رکنِ کانگریس Yassamin Ansari نے نہ صرف ان بیانات کی مذمت کی بلکہ آئین کی 25ویں ترمیم کے تحت ٹرمپ کو عہدے سے ہٹانے کا مطالبہ بھی کیا، یہ کہتے ہوئے کہ وہ ذہنی طور پر منصب کے اہل نہیں رہے۔
ایوانِ نمائندگان میں ڈیموکریٹس کے سرکردہ رہنما Hakeem Jeffries نے بھی ٹرمپ کے بیان کو “قابلِ نفرت اور غیر متوازن” قرار دیا۔
رپورٹس کے مطابق، ٹرمپ نے اپنے ایک پیغام میں ایران کو دھمکی دی کہ اگر آبنائے ہرمز نہ کھولی گئی تو ایران کے بجلی گھر اور پل تباہ کر دیے جائیں گے۔ اس پیغام میں سخت زبان اور غیر مہذب الفاظ کے استعمال نے صورتحال کو مزید متنازع بنا دیا۔
دوسری جانب، ریپبلکن پارٹی کے کئی رہنماؤں نے ٹرمپ کے مؤقف کی حمایت کی ہے، جس سے امریکی سیاست میں تقسیم مزید نمایاں ہو گئی ہے۔

Political tensions in the United States have intensified after former President Donald Trump issued a controversial threat against Iran.
Several Democratic lawmakers strongly condemned Trump’s remarks, in which he threatened to target Iran’s civilian infrastructure — including power plants and bridges. Legal experts warned that such actions could constitute war crimes under international law.
Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari criticized the statements and called for invoking the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office, arguing that he is mentally unfit to serve.
House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries also denounced the message as “disgusting and unhinged,” expressing serious concern over Trump’s conduct.
In his message, Trump warned that Iran’s power plants and bridges would be targeted if Tehran did not reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The use of profanity and inflammatory language further escalated criticism both domestically and internationally.
Meanwhile, several Republican figures voiced support for Trump’s stance, highlighting deep political divisions within the United States.
