جمہوریت کی خالی نشستیں اور عوام کی نئی آواز

بھارت کے انتخابی منظرنامے میں ایک اور جمہوری مرحلہ سامنے آ گیا ہے۔

نے اتوار کے روز ملک کی چھ ریاستوں میں آٹھ اسمبلی حلقوں کے لیے ضمنی انتخابات کے شیڈول کا اعلان کر دیا ہے۔

نے نئی دہلی میں ایک پریس کانفرنس کے دوران بتایا کہ گوا، کرناٹک، ناگالینڈ اور تریپورہ کے اسمبلی حلقوں میں 9 اپریل کو ووٹنگ ہوگی، جبکہ گجرات اور مہاراشٹر کی نشستوں پر 23 اپریل کو پولنگ کرائی جائے گی۔

ووٹوں کی گنتی 4 مئی کو ہوگی۔ اسی دن ملک کی پانچ بڑی ریاستوں —
West Bengal،
Assam،
Kerala،
Tamil Nadu
اور مرکز کے زیر انتظام علاقہ
Puducherry
— میں جاری اسمبلی انتخابات کے نتائج بھی جاری کیے جائیں گے۔

الیکشن کمیشن کے مطابق ضمنی انتخابات اس وقت کرائے جاتے ہیں جب کسی اسمبلی نشست پر منتخب نمائندے کے استعفیٰ، نااہلی یا وفات کے باعث خلا پیدا ہو جائے۔
یہ انتخابات اس خلا کو پُر کرتے ہوئے عوام کو دوبارہ اپنے نمائندے منتخب کرنے کا موقع دیتے ہیں۔

یوں جمہوریت کا سفر ایک بار پھر اس حقیقت کی یاد دلاتا ہے کہ اختیار کی اصل بنیاد عوام کی رائے ہے — اور ہر خالی نشست دراصل عوامی آواز کے انتظار میں ایک خاموش کرسی ہوتی ہے۔

Democracy Calls Again: By-Elections Announced for Eight Assembly Seats Across Six States

New Delhi | March 15

India’s democratic process has entered another significant phase as the
Election Commission of India
has announced by-elections for eight assembly constituencies across six states.

Chief Election Commissioner
Gyanesh Kumar
stated during a press conference in New Delhi that polling will be held on April 9 in constituencies located in Goa, Karnataka, Nagaland, and Tripura, while Gujarat and Maharashtra will go to the polls on April 23.

The counting of votes will take place on May 4, the same day results will be declared for the ongoing assembly elections in
West Bengal,
Assam,
Kerala,
Tamil Nadu
and the Union Territory of
Puducherry.

By-elections are conducted when a legislative seat becomes vacant before the completion of its term, often due to resignation, disqualification, or the death of a sitting legislator.

These elections restore representation in the respective assemblies and reaffirm the fundamental spirit of democracy — that every vacant seat ultimately belongs to the voice of the people.
