جمہوریت میں اقتدار کسی فرد، جماعت یا حکومت کو اعزاز کے طور پر نہیں دیا جاتا، بلکہ یہ عوام کی طرف سے سونپی گئی ایک عظیم امانت ہوتی ہے۔ اس امانت کا مقصد عوام پر اپنی مرضی مسلط کرنا نہیں، بلکہ ان کی زندگی کو بہتر، محفوظ، خوشحال اور باوقار بنانا ہے۔ ریاست کا وجود اسی وقت بامعنی ہوتا ہے جب اس کا ہر فیصلہ عام شہری کی بھلائی سے جڑا ہو۔

حکومت کا فرض یہ نہیں کہ وہ اپنی تمام تر توانائیاں تاریخ کو نئے سانچوں میں ڈھالنے، شہروں، محلوں اور سڑکوں کے نام تبدیل کرنے، عبادت گاہوں کے تنازعات کو ہوا دینے، یا ایسے اقدامات میں صرف کرے جن سے معاشرے میں تقسیم اور بے چینی پیدا ہو۔ ایک ذمہ دار حکومت کی پہچان اس کی ترجیحات سے ہوتی ہے، اور اس کی اولین ترجیح ہمیشہ انسان ہونا چاہیے۔

اقتدار کا اصل حسن اس وقت نمایاں ہوتا ہے جب ملک میں امن قائم ہو، قانون سب کے لیے یکساں ہو، شہری خود کو محفوظ محسوس کریں، اور اختلافِ رائے کو دشمنی میں تبدیل نہ ہونے دیا جائے۔ حکمران اگر اپنے مخالفین کو دشمن سمجھنے لگیں، یا ریاستی طاقت کو صرف اقتدار برقرار رکھنے کا ذریعہ بنا لیں، تو جمہوریت اپنی روح کھونے لگتی ہے۔

حکومت کی کامیابی کا پیمانہ یہ نہیں کہ کتنے منصوبوں کے نام بدلے گئے، کتنے یادگار دروازے تعمیر ہوئے، یا کتنے سیاسی نعرے بلند ہوئے۔ اصل کامیابی اس میں ہے کہ کتنے غریبوں کے چولہے روشن ہوئے، کتنے نوجوانوں کو روزگار ملا، کتنے کسان قرض کے بوجھ سے آزاد ہوئے، کتنے مزدور باعزت زندگی گزارنے لگے، کتنے بچوں کو معیاری تعلیم نصیب ہوئی، کتنے مریضوں کو بروقت علاج ملا، اور کتنے خاندان غربت کی لکیر سے اوپر آئے۔

ہر حکومت پر یہ اخلاقی اور آئینی ذمہ داری عائد ہوتی ہے کہ وہ مہنگائی پر قابو پائے، ضروری اشیائے زندگی کو عام آدمی کی پہنچ میں رکھے، انصاف کو طاقتور کے بجائے حق دار تک پہنچائے، اور اس بات کو یقینی بنائے کہ ملک کا کوئی شہری بھوک، خوف یا ناامیدی کے ساتھ رات نہ گزارے۔ روٹی، کپڑا، مکان، تعلیم، علاج اور باعزت روزگار کسی حکومت کا احسان نہیں، بلکہ ہر شہری کا بنیادی حق ہیں۔

ایک بالغ نظر ریاست اپنے شہریوں کو مذہب، ذات، زبان، نسل یا سیاسی وابستگی کی بنیاد پر تقسیم نہیں کرتی بلکہ سب کو برابر کا شہری سمجھتی ہے۔ حکمرانوں کا فرض ہے کہ وہ دلوں کو جوڑیں، فاصلے کم کریں، نفرت کے بجائے اعتماد پیدا کریں، اور آئین کی روح کے مطابق سب کو مساوی احترام اور تحفظ فراہم کریں۔

تاریخ گواہ ہے کہ وہ حکومتیں زیادہ دیر تک قائم نہیں رہتیں جو عوام کے مسائل سے بے خبر ہو جائیں۔ لیکن وہ حکمران ہمیشہ عزت پاتے ہیں جنہوں نے اقتدار کو خدمت کا ذریعہ بنایا، انصاف کو اپنی طاقت سمجھا، اور عوام کو اپنی اصل قوت مانا۔

اقتدار کا دوام طاقت سے نہیں، اعتماد سے حاصل ہوتا ہے۔ اور اعتماد صرف اسی وقت پیدا ہوتا ہے جب حکومت عوام کی آواز سنے، ان کے دکھ درد کو اپنا دکھ سمجھے، اور اپنی ہر پالیسی میں انسان کی عزت، آزادی اور فلاح کو مقدم رکھے۔

حکومتیں بدلتی رہتی ہیں، لیکن قومیں ان اصولوں پر زندہ رہتی ہیں جن میں انصاف، دیانت، خدمت، مساوات اور انسان دوستی شامل ہو۔ یہی وہ اقدار ہیں جو ایک مضبوط، خوشحال اور پرامن ملک کی بنیاد بنتی ہیں۔

الف نیوز کا یقین ہے کہ اقتدار کا سب سے بڑا مقصد انسان کی خدمت ہے۔ جو حکومت عوام کے چہرے پر اطمینان کی مسکراہٹ، نوجوانوں کو امید، مزدور کو عزت، کسان کو تحفظ، عورت کو وقار، اور بچوں کو روشن مستقبل دے سکے، وہی حقیقی معنوں میں کامیاب حکومت کہلانے کی مستحق ہے۔

Power Is a Trust, Governance Is a Responsibility

In a democracy, political power is not a prize awarded to rulers; it is a sacred trust placed in their hands by the people. Governments are elected not to impose their will upon society, but to improve the lives of citizens, protect their rights, and build a peaceful, prosperous, and inclusive nation.

The primary duty of a government is not to spend its energy on renaming streets, neighborhoods, or cities, reviving disputes over places of worship, or engaging in symbolic acts that deepen social divisions. A responsible government is defined by its priorities, and the highest priority should always be the welfare of its people.

The true strength of governance lies in maintaining peace, upholding the rule of law equally for everyone, protecting freedom, and ensuring that differences of opinion never become reasons for hatred. Democracy begins to lose its soul when political opponents are treated as enemies or when state institutions become instruments for preserving power rather than serving the public.

The success of a government should not be measured by the number of names it changes, monuments it builds, or slogans it promotes. It should be measured by how many families escape poverty, how many young people find employment, how many farmers are freed from debt, how many workers live with dignity, how many children receive quality education, how many patients receive timely healthcare, and how many citizens enjoy a better standard of living.

Every government has both a constitutional and moral obligation to control inflation, make essential goods affordable, ensure equal access to justice, and guarantee that no citizen goes to bed hungry. Food, clothing, shelter, education, healthcare, and dignified employment are not acts of charity; they are fundamental rights.

A mature state does not divide its citizens by religion, caste, language, ethnicity, or political belief. Instead, it embraces equality, protects diversity, strengthens social harmony, and ensures that every individual enjoys equal dignity under the Constitution.

History teaches us that governments disconnected from the people’s suffering rarely endure. Those remembered with respect are the leaders who regarded power as a means of service, justice as their greatest strength, and the people as the true source of authority.

Power survives not through fear but through public trust. That trust grows only when governments listen to their citizens, share their concerns, and place human dignity, justice, compassion, and public welfare at the heart of every policy.

Governments may come and go, but nations endure because of values such as justice, integrity, equality, public service, and humanity. These are the foundations upon which strong, peaceful, and prosperous societies are built.
