ترووللور میں امونیا گیس رساؤ سانحہ: ہلاکتوں کی تعداد 9 ہوگئی، 69 افراد زیرِ علاج

چنئی، 23 جون: تمل ناڈو کے ضلع ترووللور میں واقع ایک نجی سمندری غذاؤں کی پراسیسنگ اور برآمدی فیکٹری   St. Peter and Paul  Seafoods  Processing & Exports Factory    میں امونیا گیس کے خطرناک رساؤ کے نتیجے میں ہلاک ہونے والوں کی تعداد بڑھ کر 9 ہوگئی ہے۔

صحت محکمہ کی جانب سے جاری کردہ تازہ طبی بلیٹن کے مطابق آسام سے تعلق رکھنے والی ایک اور خاتون علاج کے دوران دم توڑ گئی، جس کے بعد مجموعی ہلاکتیں نو تک پہنچ گئی ہیں۔

حکام کے مطابق گیس رساؤ کے اثرات سے متاثر ہونے والے 69 افراد مختلف اسپتالوں میں زیرِ علاج ہیں، جہاں ان کی حالت پر مسلسل نظر رکھی جا رہی ہے۔ متاثرین میں بڑی تعداد فیکٹری کے مزدوروں اور ملازمین کی بتائی جاتی ہے۔

یہ حادثہ ترووللور ضلع کے کنیگائی پیر گاؤں میں واقع سمندری غذاؤں کی پراسیسنگ اور برآمدی یونٹ میں پیش آیا تھا، جس کے بعد امدادی اور طبی ٹیموں کو فوری طور پر موقع پر روانہ کیا گیا۔

ریاستی حکومت نے متاثرہ افراد کے علاج کے لیے خصوصی انتظامات کرنے کے ساتھ واقعے کی وجوہات جاننے کے لیے تحقیقات کا حکم دیا ہے۔ مقامی باشندوں اور مزدور تنظیموں نے صنعتی اداروں میں حفاظتی اقدامات کے مؤثر نفاذ کا مطالبہ کیا ہے۔

ماہرین کے مطابق امونیا گیس کا رساؤ انسانی صحت کے لیے انتہائی خطرناک ثابت ہوسکتا ہے اور اس سے سانس لینے میں دشواری، آنکھوں اور جلد میں جلن سمیت متعدد طبی پیچیدگیاں پیدا ہوسکتی ہیں۔

Tiruvallur Ammonia Gas Leak Death Toll Rises to Nine, 69 Under Treatment

Chennai, June 23: The death toll from the ammonia gas leak at a private seafood processing and export facility (St. Peter and Paul Seafoods) in Tiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu has risen to nine.

According to the latest medical bulletin issued by the Health Department, another woman from Assam succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment, taking the total number of fatalities to nine.

Officials said that 69 affected persons are currently receiving treatment in various hospitals. Most of the victims are believed to be workers and employees associated with the seafood processing unit.

The incident occurred at a seafood processing and export factory located in Kanigaipair village in Tiruvallur district. Emergency response teams and medical personnel were rushed to the site soon after the gas leak was reported.

The Tamil Nadu government has ordered an investigation into the incident and directed authorities to ensure proper medical care for all affected individuals. Local residents and labour groups have also called for stricter industrial safety measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.

Experts warn that exposure to ammonia gas can cause serious health complications, including breathing difficulties, irritation of the eyes and skin, and other respiratory problems.
