جمعیت علماۓ ہند نے آسام کے وزیرِ اعلیٰ Himanta Biswa Sarma کے کچھ حالیہ عوامی بیانات کو فرقہ وارانہ، تقسیم کرنے والے اور آئین کی روح کے خلاف قرار دیتے ہوئے سپریم کورٹ میں عرضی دائر کر دی ہے۔ جمعیت کا کہنا ہے کہ ایسے بیانات سے سماجی نفرت اور کشیدگی میں اضافہ ہو سکتا ہے، اس لیے عدالت سے درخواست کی گئی ہے کہ وہ آئینی عہدوں پر فائز افراد کے لیے واضح، سخت اور قابلِ عمل رہنما خطوط طے کرے تاکہ کسی سرکاری منصب کا غلط استعمال کر کے کسی خاص برادری کے خلاف نفرت پھیلانے سے روکا جا سکے۔

عرضی جمعیت کے صدر مولانا محمود مدنی  کی جانب سے داخل کی گئی اور کہا گیا کہ اس معاملے میں فوری ہدایات جاری کی جائیں تاکہ آئین اور سماجی ہم آہنگی کا تحفظ ممکن بنایا جا سکے۔ عرضی میں مخصوص تقریر (بتاریخ 27 جنوری کے خطاب کے حوالے سے) کو بطور مثال پیش کیا گیا ہے جس پر تنظیم نے تحفظات ظاہر کیے ہیں۔
