ہوسٹل میں خاموش سانحہ
وی آئی ٹی کیمپس میں کیرالا سے تعلق رکھنے والے طالب علم کی پُراسرار موت
چنئی کے مضافاتی علاقے کندیگئی میں واقع ویلور انسٹی ٹیوٹ آف ٹیکنالوجی (VIT) کے کیمپس میں ایک افسوسناک واقعہ پیش آیا، جہاں انجینئرنگ کے ایک نوجوان طالب علم کی لاش ہوسٹل کے کمرے سے برآمد ہوئی۔ پولیس کے مطابق یہ واقعہ خودکشی کا ہے، تاہم تحقیقات کا عمل جاری ہے۔
مرحوم طالب علم کی شناخت عبین رفیق کے نام سے ہوئی ہے، جن کا تعلق ریاست کیرالا سے تھا اور وہ بیچلر آف انجینئرنگ (آرٹیفیشل انٹیلیجنس) کے طالب علم تھے۔ پولیس ذرائع کے مطابق عبین کو کم حاضری اور بعض تعلیمی بے ضابطگیوں کے باعث سمسٹر امتحان میں شرکت کی اجازت نہیں دی گئی تھی۔
بتایا جاتا ہے کہ تعلیمی دباؤ، اساتذہ کی سرزنش اور مستقبل سے متعلق بے یقینی نے طالب علم کو شدید ذہنی دباؤ میں مبتلا کر دیا تھا۔ جمعہ کی صبح اس کی لاش کیمپس کے اندر واقع ہوسٹل سے برآمد ہوئی۔
اطلاع ملتے ہی تھازھمبور پولیس موقع پر پہنچی، لاش کو تحویل میں لے کر سرکاری اسپتال چینگلپٹّو منتقل کیا گیا، جہاں پوسٹ مارٹم کے بعد مزید قانونی کارروائی عمل میں لائی جا رہی ہے۔ پولیس نے غیر فطری موت کا مقدمہ درج کر لیا ہے۔
یہ سانحہ ایک بار پھر تعلیمی اداروں میں ذہنی صحت، دباؤ اور نوجوانوں کی جذباتی نگہداشت کے سوالات کو نمایاں کرتا ہے—جہاں کامیابی کے معیار اکثر انسان کی خاموش چیخوں پر غالب آ جاتے ہیں۔

Engineering Student from Kerala Found Dead at VIT Campus
A tragic incident has cast a pall of silence over the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) campus at Kandigai, on the outskirts of Chennai, where a young engineering student was found dead inside the hostel premises. Police have termed the case as suicide, while further investigation is underway.
The deceased has been identified as Abin Rafiq, a 19-year-old student from Kerala, pursuing a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Artificial Intelligence. According to police sources, Abin was barred from appearing for the semester examinations due to insufficient attendance and alleged academic malpractices.
Sources indicate that the student had been under severe mental distress following reprimands from faculty members regarding his academic performance and attendance. The pressure, coupled with uncertainty about his academic future, is believed to have pushed him into depression.
His body was found on Friday morning in the hostel located within the campus. Upon receiving information, Thazhambur Police rushed to the spot, recovered the body, and registered a case of unnatural death. The body was sent to the Government Hospital in Chengalpattu for post-mortem examination.
The incident once again brings to the fore the pressing need to address mental health concerns among students, reminding society that behind grades and attendance records lie fragile human lives seeking understanding, not judgment.
